Drug rehab call centers are in the sights of Congress. Eight of the nation’s drug and alcohol addiction treatment center call centers were sent investigation letters from Congress concerning patient brokering. This will change drug rehab lead generation options for addiction treatment centers. You can read a list of those drug rehab call centers that received the letters and what information Congress is requesting below. A buy rehab leads strategy is unpopular with many professionals in the drug and alcohol addiction industry. Even with its’ unpopularity, these businesses have thrived over the years. Most likely due to many drug and alcohol addiction treatment center owners relying on short-term solutions to their long-term problem of maintaining a census.
Drug Rehab Call Centers Being Checked Out by Congress on Drug Rehab Lead Generation
Big brother is watching the drug and alcohol addiction treatment industry on many different levels affecting treatment calls. The strict patient brokering laws that were passed on July 1, 2017, for sober homes and addiction treatment centers in West Palm Beach, Florida have paved the road for the nation. The new “Florida Model” is one of the most positive things that has come out of Florida for the addiction treatment industry. California is now in the process with legislation to fight patient brokering, many more states will follow.
Unfortunately, the media in its’ frenzy to gain readers and viewers for advertising dollars have beat up Florida causing some ethical operators to close their doors. They were dubbed with the “Florida Shuffle” which should be the “national body shuffle.” The irresponsible news media coverage has caused many to seek treatment in other areas of the country. This hurt the ethical players and more importantly caused some to get treatment in other areas that are worse than Florida. Forbes magazine reported we are in a 35 billion dollar a year industry, and NBC News reported that Florida only accounts for 1 billion. Florida is certainly not the worst state concerning patient brokering. The media in its’ slanted coverage, unknowingly may have caused life-threatening situations to many. It will be interesting to see if the media does a story covering drug rehab call centers across the nation.
Addiction Treatment Centers Competing in a Red Ocean
Many addiction treatment centers think they cannot compete with the big players in the sandbox due to their lack of education on proven drug rehab marketing strategies. They see the bigger players spending over six figures a month on addiction treatment marketing and resort to a quick fix . The quick fixes for their drug rehab lead generation include a buy rehab leads strategy from drug rehab call centers, soon to come again Google AdWords and the one trick pony cookie cutter solutions offered by the large drug rehab marketing agencies that rely on the churn of the 14,000 treatment centers across the US. Florida was hit with a double whammy with the new laws passed on July 1, 2017, and then again with Google restricting drug and alcohol addiction treatment pay per click ads. Unfortunately, with the new investigation of Congress on call centers, some will go back to AdWords if they qualify through Google.
Drug Rehab Call Centers Leads Strategy
If the small to medium treatment centers did not waste their time and money on the short-term solutions but instead invested in a long-term organic strategy they would be much better off. It’s an interesting situation if you consider that many of the leads generated from call centers are not a good fit for the treatment centers. In addition, some shady drug rehab call centers sell the same rehabilitation lead to many centers. Once the center starts to complain they are not receiving treatment leads, the drug rehab call centers concentrate on sending a few well-qualified leads. And now in Florida, it is illegal to sell the well-qualified calls which are verification of benefits (VOB Calls.) If you are an addiction treatment center in Florida and are buying VOB calls, or if you are buying calls from a call center based in Florida you are at great risk including legal problems, felony charges, high fines and jail time.
Google AdWords and PPC for Drug Rehab Marketing Strategy
It’s unfortunate that the small to medium size treatment centers revert to using AdWords and a buy rehab leads strategy. Consider this, pay per click accounts for 1.91% of the addiction treatment calls from page one of Google. Many of these calls are not a good fit for the drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment centers. The first three organic listings on page one of Google account for almost 70% of the page one clicks. In addition, they need to be ranking in the Google 3-pack on page one. It takes time and knowledge to rank on page one of Google. Many of the large one trick pony marketing agencies who have a hard time retaining the best marketing talent gloss over these critical elements. That is why it is extremely important to have drug rehab marketing consultants driving your addiction treatment marketing machine. This also applies to the addiction treatment ancillary services providers lead generation strategies. Many of the nation’s best marketing consultants have left the large drug rehab marketing agencies because they know their worth. They have left the one trick pony cookie cutter agencies because these marketing agencies simply cannot afford to pay them well enough because they rely on the glitz and glamour. They are spending big bucks on their Executive salaries, conferences, airfares, high-end restaurants and extravagant entertaining.

They also need to make arrangements by June 12, 2018, to provide a briefing to the committee staff. Below are the 8 call centers that have been contacted by Congress. You can click on them and read the letters that were sent.
Drug Rehab Call Centers Regulation is Coming from Congress
For drug rehab call centers and unethical operators in the addiction treatment rehabilitation marketing, the writing is on the wall. Big brother is examining every business and addiction recovery marketing aspect of our industry. Not only drug rehab call centers but also substance abuse drug testing labs, insurance, substance abuse billing, addiction treatment centers, opiate detox and sober livings. They are gathering the needed information to take down patient brokering and help save lives.
We’d like to hear your thoughts on call centers being investigated, leave a remark below.
Addiction treatment center marketing has many fluff posts with little meat on how to market in our industry. Many miss the most important factor and that’s the necessity of having a large audience. There are many components needed in a drug rehab marketing mix, but without reaching a targeted audience you are wasting time and marketing budget.
Understanding Addiction Treatment Center Marketing Components
Drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers expect instant results that they are used to getting from pay per click and call center lead generation. Their addiction center treatment marketing is dependent on the instant calls from these two short-term solutions that they have to pay for over and over again. Before the Google restrictions in our industry, there were about 75 big time players spending $500,000-$1,500,000 a month in that big boy sandbox. The google restrictions will be lifted for those who qualify and they will be competing for the 1.91% of the clicks that paid marketing (PPC) generates. Hopefully many have learned from this and are including a better option with their addiction treatment marketing plan. Organic rankings on page one of Google account for a whopping 70% of the click-throughs. Generating leads is a huge problem for many of the small to medium-sized treatment centers that only waste their marketing dollars on AdWords. They should include a localized drug rehab SEO marketing strategy because they can compete with the big players with the marketing strategy.
Drug Rehab Call Tracking Metrics is an Absolute Must in a Marketing Plan
Call Tracking Metrics (a must to know where your calls are coming from, this is an inexpensive took), SEO, AdWords, PPC, “DRIP” Campaigns, mobile, call center lead generation, email mail marketing, organic rankings, gorilla marketing, Facebook. drug rehab marketing on inkedIn, professional events, branding, networking, knowing all the search engines, listings on high traffic addiction sites (make sure if your link is coming from a website that the site has a PR7 or higher rating otherwise it’s hurting you,) being a thought leader and many more.
Had they set-up their addiction treatment center marketing with a marketing mix (many different buckets) and tracked their calls they would not be dependent on one. A varied marketing mix is paramount in any business. Millennial’s have changed drug rehab marketing forever and any business in our industry needs to grow their social media footprint for several reasons.
The E-Harmony of Addition Treatment Center Marketing
E-Harmony is one of the most known and successful dating websites in the US. They have 66 million users and have produced 2 million marriages (the divorce rate of these marriages is 3.86%).
One of the main reasons they are successful is that they have grown their social media audience and understand how to market to them.
In the addiction and behavioral health industry, many of the treatment centers and sales/service organizations either get an agency (that doesn’t have the addiction treatment center marketing audience) or attempt to do this in-house. When an agency is hired to perform social media marketing it takes a little while before the center realizes the agency is only good for paid marketing.
They have not grown an audience that the addiction treatment center owns. Some advertising and marketing agencies will try to grow Facebook business likes to show they have done some work. This strategy is not effective due to Facebook’s new algorithm changes. Facebook’s new changes are heavily restricting posts from business pages. The power is now in personal profiles and groups.
Understanding How to Use Social Media for Drug Rehab Marketing
Treatment centers eventually realize the large cookie cutter drug rehab marketing agency they hired is not producing results, and they haven’t even grown any electronic assets. At this point, many centers try to do the social media themselves. This does produce results that have the lowest cost per acquisition in their marketing. However, most of the industry does not possess the necessary skills to perform successful social media marketing. It does not happen immediately it takes time to build your brand in the 1000’s of social media groups and corral a targeted audience. For this to happen they need to know each of the key social mediums intimately.
Some drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers think social media marketing is easy and attempt to do it in-house. They think that a couple of posts will produce activity and generate leads. They also do not place or look at any back-end metrics like Google Analytics and call tracking. These are essential because they clearly tell you how much traffic is generated, where the traffic is coming from and what is or isn’t performing.
Addiction treatment social media marketing requires a complete understanding of the different mediums. Each has its own strength and it’s own secrets, tricks, and back-doors to maximize reach and your time investment. Knowing where, how and when for each particular medium is the difference from reaching 50 to reaching 1000’s.
6 Key Ways Addiction Treatment Center Marketing Utilizes Social Media

Drug rehab consultants play a vital role in the addiction treatment industry. Whether you are a new start-up, an existing center, or an ancillary service provider you need consultants for various reasons. Behavioral health business and marketing consultants prevent costly mistakes, save revenue and increase return on investment. Drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers and the entire industry spend a lot of money on their drug rehab marketing strategies. Without the expertise of a consultant they can, and do, waste hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Why Drug Rehab Consultants?
As an addiction treatment center owner, you’ve spent an enormous amount of time and resources to have a structurally sound clinical component for your center. You’ve hired the best and most qualified clinical team and have the best clinical protocols in place. The treatment side is usually the owner’s specialty. Many centers will hire accreditation consultants for their Joint Commission (JACHO) and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, (CARF.)
These accreditations are extremely important for the treatment centers allowing them for better overall treatment for their clients, assists in gaining clients and makes them an authority over their competition. Consultants charge $30,000 or more to get them through the accreditation processes. Drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers owners know that these are an absolute necessity for their behavioral health organizations. The second reason drug rehab owners hire consultants is that at some point they all realize the importance of marketing. Then, they quickly realize they are competing against big dollars being spent by the larger addiction treatment centers every month. They also start to realize they need an internet of things (IoT) electronic footprint driving targeted traffic to their website for their addiction treatment center marketing.
Many owners do not put the same time, resources and investment in their marketing. Many do not respect marketing, nor do they understand the time, education and resources for an effective marketing strategy. They generally take short-cuts with their website, SEO and overall marketing. These short-cuts are saving pennies and wasting dollars in the long run. For example, they might save a couple thousand dollars on their website build. Their website looks beautiful to the eye, however, it usually has poor structure, no schema, poor Google My Business and an extreme lack of social media marketing. Drug rehab centers must have a robust and targeted drug rehab marketing mix to survive the business and operational changes in our industry. Drug rehab consultants provide the experience and knowledge to avoid costly mistakes on the business and marketing side of our unique industry.
Drug Rehab Marketing Consultants Should be Part of the Package
All drug rehab consultants should be assessing the most important aspect of addiction center treatment marketing. Contrary to what most addiction treatment center owners and ancillary service providers believe your website is the most valuable asset in generating leads. There are 7 key mistakes made with website development made by addiction treatment centers when generating drug rehab leads. Set-up correctly it will outperform all other marketing aspects combined. If set-up poorly you will be wasting a ton of marketing dollars and blaming your drug rehab marketing agency for poor results. You will be forced to using “black hat” marketing strategies and continuously get penalized by Google. This is where drug rehab consultants play a vital role in the success of drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers.
Here is where CEO’s and Executives need to have a long-term marketing strategy in place. Your addiction treatment center or any business website works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This employee never takes a day off, never goes on vacation and you don’t have to pay for its benefits. Best of all as a treatment center owner you have 100% control and know if you set something it will happen 100% of the time. This can work for you or against you. The question is how you fine tune this engine to work efficiently. First, you must understand that what you see on the screen when you are visiting a website is only 10%. The other 90% is back-end stuff that must sync perfectly to get blessed by the Google GODS.
Your Website Must be an Authority and Trusted by Google and Potential Clients
Why is it vital for addiction treatment centers, or detox’s staff to be published on high profile industry websites? This positions them as an expert in drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Citing and including them in your websites builds instant trust with potential clients. Also, getting published on other high authority websites increases Google ranking. One of the most difficult areas of drug rehab SEO for addiction treatment centers and ancillary service providers is getting those back-links pointing to their websites. Regardless of whether your clinicians don’t have all the flashy letters after their names, it is still greatly supportive if they compose articles and blog entries on your website. It is likewise similarly as critical or much more imperative for drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers to distribute video recordings of staff teaching people in general about drug addiction and recovery. Videos rank the highest on Google and social media for retention and they help build trust. In fact, they receive more than 60% of the click-throughs. Behavioral Health Network Resources offers drug rehab SEO marketing and training to get your center on page one of Google.
Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment Marketing Best Practices
Spread out your drug and alcohol addiction treatment center marketing budget. Putting all your marketing dollars into one bucket like AdWords spells disaster. Many learned this mistake when Google restricted paid ads, some did not make the learning curve and had to close their doors. The centers that survived had good drug rehab consultants which put into place a diverse marketing strategy. Categorize your marketing into three buckets. This way when one bucket isn’t working you have the other two generating phone calls. Even with three buckets going on at the same time one, two or all three could fail at any given time. The three main buckets should be organic, boots on the ground and paid advertising.
Organic marketing in one of the most difficult for drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers and ancillary service providers to fully understand. It starts with proper website structure. Without proper website structure, your website is going to be leaking Google ranking juice. Google with either not read the site or penalize it. This is where the most marketing dollars are wasted by many treatment centers.
After structure, you need to look at search engine optimization (SEO.) SEO is a complicated process and impossible to know all there is to know on the subject. Even the best drug rehab consultants only know a fraction of SEO. However, they do know the many best practices that can get you to the first page of Google. Google only reveals a few golden nuggets; the rest is best practices. We get 10-15 calls every week from drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers on marketing and consulting. Almost everyone says their on-page SEO is good. This is rarely the case. I always ask them if they have Yoast installed on their website. Yoast is a WordPress plugin that tells you and guides you in having decent SEO on your site. Yoast will tell you if your SEO is at an acceptable level. Once things are up to par with Yoast, it is time to hire an SEO specialist.
Organic SEO also covers publishing useful, attracting and engaging content. It is not enough to have you site look good in Google eyes, it also must be useful to the reader.
The last part of organic SEO is social media and this is an absolute must. According to Tech Crunch, people are spending over 5 hours a day on their cell phones. This doesn’t include time spent on PC’s at work and home. Our society has been consumed with social media being a daily part of our lives. It is paramount that your addiction recovery center gets in front of potential clients daily. For the most part, this is not a features and benefits sales pitch. It is attracting and engaging potential clients with good content on an emotional level. Then attaching that emotion to your brand. You must build trust by providing content that conveys you understand the trials and tribulations they are experiencing with addiction and can help them.
Even with great content, it is useless unless you have the vehicle to get in front of the potential masses. It takes an intimate understanding of Facebook and LinkedIn. Addiction treatment centers must understand the secrets, tricks, and back-doors of these mediums to maximize their potential to drive leads. Facebook announced their new algorithm that puts the power of business marketing with individual profiles and groups unless you pay for the advertising. We have been preparing for this social media marketing shift for the last four years. We are one of the few marketing companies that practices what they preach when it comes to marketing on Facebook and LinkedIn. We have built up 30,000 level one connection’s on LinkedIn and 12 groups with over 50,000 members. On Facebook, we have 15,000 friends and 35 groups with over 150,000 members.
Boots on the Ground Pitfalls
Almost every addiction treatment center puts most of their marketing efforts in boots on the ground tactics. While it should be in every drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers marketing mix, it should only be a portion of the marketing mix. All drug rehab consultants should be telling you to have diversity in your drug rehab lead generation. We see many centers using boots on the ground, Google AdWords and call center lead generation.
This is most likely due to CEO’s and Executive looking for short-term solutions to keep their census at an acceptable level. They tend to get caught up with hiring Outreach professionals that say they have a book of business. This strategy has caused an extremely high turnover rate in the addiction treatment industry. Outreach professional’s positions usually last from 6 months to a year. We see this by looking at out 30,000 addiction and behavioral health professional level one connections profiles on LinkedIn. Many owners do not realize that this situation actually costs the drug rehab centers about $20,000 per turn over.
Paid Advertising the King of Short-term Solution to a Long-Term Problem
Google AdWords or pay per click (PPC) has paved the road for unprepared drug rehab marketing plans. Addiction treatment centers have notoriously used AdWords in place of a good organic marketing plan. This is mind-boggling considering the paid AdWords account for less than 5% of the click-throughs on Google. The first three organic slots account for a whopping 70%. Bing, Yahoo, and MSN are comparable to these numbers.
Google AdWords restrictions are somewhat being lifted in July of 2018. While we will see some centers jumping back on that merry-go-round, some should have learned the value of organic marketing. This is a long-term play that once established can last for years and generates higher converting clients.
Another famous short-term solution is a buy rehab leads strategy. Many treatment centers complain about buying calls but continue to do so. Now, in Florida, they are no longer allowed by law to buy verification of benefits (VOB) calls. This call center lead generation option would give treatment centers qualified leads at least guaranteeing that the potential client has the insurance the center offers.
These drug rehab marketing buckets are constantly changing and providing different leads at different times. At any given time, they stop producing leads, and not for any given reason. As a CEO or Marketing Director, you need to be juggling all three constantly. One of the biggest mistakes that drug rehabs make is when the census is up they do not invest more in their drug rehab marketing efforts.
Drug rehab consultants should be putting in back-end analytics to measure efficiency. Keeping in mind the end goal is to understand your most elevated ROI. It is imperative to track lead generation sources that are converting into clients. It is critical to gauge the “first contact” of when the individual seeking addiction treatment reached out.
Did they call?
How many calls?
What blog post generated the call or click?
Did they click through from a landing page?
Did they click through from Google, Bing, Yahoo or MSN?
Did they click through from Google Maps?
Was it from a “boots on the ground” lead?
This is vital marketing intelligence. By knowing this information, you can adjust your marketing strategy and fuel resources to what is working at that time. Again, this is not stagnant, it is constantly changing and adjusting is critical.
Call Tracking Metrics an Inexpensive Absolute Must Have Tool
The key to maximizing your ROI on marketing dollars is to know what is generating the most drug rehab leads, or calls. Call tracking can tell you where the potential client started and right through to where they called from. This is vital information for the marketing team. You can also assign a dollar value to the services sold to have dollars associated with conversions. It will also record the calls, so you can determine if admissions teams are doing a good job of converting clients. It also gives information on date, time, city, state, and much more. You can check out how this inexpensive valuable drug rehab call tracking tool is for your center.
Why Add Google Analytics to Your Drug Rehab Marketing Plan?
Google analytics like call tracking provides information on addiction treatment centers websites. All drug rehab consultants should know how to read and utilize this vital information. It tells you real-time traffic, city, state, pages visited, where they came from, interests and more.
Google analytics tells you what the most popular pages of your website and blog are. It tells you how long they stayed on your website. If it is less than 60 seconds, it is called a bounce. If you have pages with a high bounce rate, then you need to edit those pages to make them more engaging. For the pages with long visit time, it tells you that it is good content and you should be producing more similar content.
Providing Staff Tools for Effective Drug Rehab Marketing
Without experienced, educated and dedicated workers, it can be a battle to become a successful behavioral health organization. This is especially true when hiring drug rehab consultants. In addition, because we are in a video age on social media, you need staff to speak and present about your drug addiction treatment program in front of a camera. They must be able to convey treatment information and touch on an emotional level. This is a human aspect that will build trust and position your drug and alcohol addiction treatment center as an authority. Building electronic video assets is critical for getting clients and getting to page one on Google.
Conferences, events and training’s play a vital role in our industry. You should be sending your staff to events and conferences to build on their knowledge of treatment, marketing and the business side of behavioral health. Many drug rehab consultants attend many of these events to gain much-needed knowledge on our complex industry. You need to provide tools on an on-going basis and not just hiring them and relying on their book of business. Getting them educated on the business and marketing side of our industry. CEO’s, Directors and Outreach need more education on marketing, social media (so their not damaging your brand,) networking strategies, SEO, call tracking, Google analytics, patient brokering, billing, collections, utilization review and many more. Providing them ongoing education and experience will pay dividends down the road.
Behavioral Health Network Resources provides 3-4 addiction professional conferences every year. These conferences feature Executive Thought Leaders, drug rehab consultants, Senators, Attorneys and high profiled and experienced behavioral health professionals. Each conference attracts 5-7 Addiction Executive Thought Leaders, 150-200 attendees, and 14-20 exhibitors. You can click here to check out our next addiction conferences EMP series on 1/22/19.
The Importance of Offering a Full Continuum of Care
When you go to a restaurant they don’t force you to order a few items. They generally offer a la carte. You need to offer the most options possible that relate to drug and alcohol addiction treatment. You are investing a tremendous amount of time, resources and money in your addiction treatment marketing strategy, you need to make sure you have a lot to offer when they decide to pick up the phone.
30, 60 and 90 In-patient Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Out-patient treatment Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Alcohol and Opiate Detox
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Sober Living Options
And many more
Two of the best motivations to do this is the insurance companies are demanding documented improvement of clients. Second, it costs a considerable amount of cash to produce qualified drug rehab leads and you need to maximize revenue.
Consultants Assist on the Business Side of Behavioral Health
The two main areas for addiction treatment centers to gain revenue include marketing and billing. We’ve covered some marketing aspects above, however, there are other areas to consider. Billing and collections can get out of hand very quickly. The insurance companies are playing dirty by rejecting claims, delaying reimbursements, questioning medical necessity and auditing addiction treatment centers to get out of paying for services. We recently sat down with Dale Redlich of Pay 2 Patient, LLC a respected behavioral health collections consultant. Here’s what he had to say.
Being a treatment center owner for over 20 years, one of the most difficult areas was with our billing and collections. Receivables get out of control quickly and drastically effect operating cash flow. We periodically relied on external assistance to get this under control.
To make it even worse there are some situations where the insurance companies send the checks directly to the treatment centers clients. This causes huge problems for treatment centers and detox’s to get those checks. Many times the treatment center’s clients keep that money. How bad is this situation, some centers can have millions of dollars in receivables from this situation. These are evident especially with Empire and Federal BCBS insurance in Florida. You can contact Mr. Redlich at 954-592-1921 with any questions.

Top 3 Reasons Drug Rehab SEO Website Development Hurts Drug Rehab Marketing
Drug rehab SEO Website development and design are drastically affecting drug rehab marketing for addiction treatment centers, opiate detox centers, inpatient rehab, and IOP treatment programs. Understanding the many components needed including; design, drug rehab SEO, and branding are critical for successful web marketing. These are all paramount to generate drug rehab leads and customers for sales/service organization in our industry. However, it requires an ongoing, in-depth knowledge of the crucial role website structure plays. Drug rehab SEO website development is complex for drug and alcohol addiction treatment center web marketing.
Understanding How Drug Rehab SEO Website Development Effects Treatment Calls Lead Generation
Addiction treatment centers are facing their most difficult challenges ever in 2018. Generating enough clients to sustain their business has become a daunting necessity. The insurance companies are now paying for shorter lengths of stay and less reimbursement for drug testing. This combined with new laws in Florida on patient brokering, Google PPC restrictions and algorithm changes, have many centers frustrated and struggling to gain clients. We are seeing many centers close their doors, merge, or get bought out by wall street investors.
As a treatment center owner, you most likely started your center because you have a passion to help and extensive knowledge of addiction. That most likely shows with the clinical aspect of your center. However, many centers fall because they do not respect, or understand drug rehab SEO marketing.
The current behavioral health industry landscape requires that recovery centers learn better addiction treatment marketing practices including the status of the drug rehab SEO website development. Website development is the major building block for their drug rehab marketing. Relying solely on outreach, and buying rehab leads to maintain an acceptable census puts them at great risk. Addiction treatment lead generation and producing treatment calls is difficult on the web. Drug rehabilitation owners often use short-term solutions to their long-term problem.
Web Marketing Outperforms All Other Marketing Combined
When the money was flowing, there was no reason to have drug rehab SEO website development or a healthy marketing mix. Addiction treatment centers and opiate detox centers threw a ton of money at their rehab marketing with PPC, bought some VOB treatment calls (no longer legal in Florida,) relied on Outreach and that was the extent of their marketing plan. They demanded immediate results which have caused industry-wide thought process concerning marketing. Concentrating on short-term solutions, to their long-term problem of generating clients, puts them at great risk of not surviving in the red ocean.
Drug Rehab SEO website developmentneeds proper website structure. Many drug rehabilitation centers think web marketing does not work. The main reason is when they implemented it into their substance abuse marketing their website lacked proper structure. They were investing money in drug rehab SEO that could not perform. Without proper structure, Google spiders will not rank or penalize the website.
Substance abuse web marketing is complicated, competitive, and requires knowledge beyond addiction treatment. Drug rehab SEO website development needs to have the proper foundation to produce treatment calls. It must be the start of your drug rehab marketing and lead generation. Web marketing outperforms all other marketing combined when set-up correctly and executed properly. Speaking with many treatment center CEO’s and Executives, many say web marketing does not work. Our immediate response is let’s look at your electronic assets and how they are set-up.
1. Proper Website Structure = Poor Web Marketing Results
Let’s first look at the website. Website structure is the critical starting point for SEO performance. The aesthetics of treatment centers websites are often beautiful, showing pictures of the beach, and amenities. The aesthetics of a website are only a fraction of what is needed for web marketing. When a house is being built, the foundation is the most important aspect. Without a strong foundation, your house will fall. With web marketing, proper structure is the original building block.
We recently spoke with Brian Frye, CEO, of Magna Technologies, a highly respected industry website design company and attendee favorite panelist at BHNR’s Ethical Marketing Practices Conferences, about the status of treatment centers websites. Here is what he had to say,
“The biggest problem is poor website structure. Centers do not understand how damaging this is to their marketing.”
Proper website structure is a critical aspect of a websites SEO and critical for drug rehab marketing. It will be one of the main factors in generating revenue or wasting marketing dollars. Poor drug rehab SEO website development causes Google (and other search engines) to do one of two things. They will either not read and rank your site or penalize your site for structural errors. If you have an efficient website structure in Googles eyes, you get rewarded in many ways (Google juice) with higher rankings. Poor structure is one of the main reasons why many treatment centers say web marketing does not work. SEO is also a huge factor for many addiction treatment centers.
Get a Website Designed and Developed by an Experienced Professional with In-depth Knowledge Beyond the Addiction Treatment Industry
The “big boys in the sandbox” understand better drug rehab SEO website development equals higher rankings in search engines and more click-throughs. These big players use professional and experienced webmasters with experience beyond the addiction treatment industry. Their sites use an efficient, clean and trimmed hierarchy. The small to medium players usually use unskilled individuals with limited knowledge of proper structure. Their hierarchy is generally disorganized, jumbled and not optimized for Google. This is an area that the small to medium size treatment centers can gain ground against the competition (big and small) on the web if they include it in their drug rehab marketing plan.
2. Pay Attention to These Areas of Website Structure
While this article cannot cover all that is involved with proper website development and structure, here are some areas that must be addressed.
Schema.org (Schema) Advanced Search Tactic
Schema is a syntactic vocabulary that is added to HTML that improves how spiders read and present a web page in SERP’s. This is an absolute must in your drug rehab SEO website development.
Google can read every language, however, it’s native tongue is the schema. This is the key to drug rehab SEO. It allows search engines to more clearly understand and read sites more quickly. It is becoming paramount for all websites to correctly incorporate schema where ever possible on their website for several reasons. It gives the ability for search engines to pull better rich snippets and rich data that makes a website link stand out and gain real estate in SERP’s, increasing clicks.
Voice Search Get Ahead of other Rehabilitation Centers with Drug Rehab SEO
Getting ahead of the competition with drug rehab SEO is easy if you know what’s coming. Secondly, it is becoming a necessity in the new age of voice search. As we pointed out in an earlier article, treatment centers and ancillary service organizations in the addiction treatment industry are suffering from digital Darwinism. Organizations in the addiction treatment industry do not have a firm understanding of the many aspects of SEO and now comes along voice search.
Digital voice search is one of the newest technological advances in the ways consumers get information. It is rapidly becoming a crucial part of the way our potential clients will get information they are seeking at home (Google Home, Microsoft’s Cortana, and Amazons Alexa,) and on mobile devices (Android, and Apple.) ComScore.com predicts that by 2020, 50 percent of all searches will be voice searches.
Implementing Schema on a website is like placing a direction post on a highway. It quickly gets the spiders to the information that correctly answers a voice query. This is important because voice queries depend on implied content. Proper schema helps provide the content rather than the spiders using an ambiguous page of text.
Implementing Schema and Asking the Right Drug Rehab SEO Questions
One of the biggest issues with schema is many do not know how to properly place it on a website. According to schema.org, there are only 10 million websites using schema.org markup. While this may seem like a lot, only 1% of websites have implemented it. This can give a treatment center an edge with drug rehab SEO. This should be included in their drug rehab marketing strategy. Some of the areas where you should incorporate schema are;
Site Navigation Element
GMB Map (Google Maps)
WP Side Bar
3. Proper Website Structure gets more Google real-estate with Site-links
Sitelinks are links and descriptions of the different parts of your website that show up in SERP’s. This is a Google’s SEO golden nugget that improves click-through rates, however, there are several pieces that need to be in place to achieve this golden award. They also are huge in SEO by making navigation easier, dominating SERP’s, brand reputations, and building trust with Google and the user. One of those important pieces is a good website structure (trust and brand reputation are also factors.) If you have a poor website structure, it is highly unlikely that you will achieve a sitemap in Google listings. This causes a reduction in targeted traffic and lower click-throughs of your target audience.
Here is an example of a search that achieves a site link. Try typing into Google search your center and see if your organization shows a site link. If it does not, you either have no site-link, or it is incorrectly implemented.
A quote from Google Webmaster clearly showing the importance of proper website development; We only show site links for results when we think they’ll be useful to the user. If the structure of your site doesn’t allow our algorithms to find good site links, or we don’t think that the site links for your site are relevant for the user’s query, we won’t show them.
Implementation of sitemap.xml to your Google search counsel account
Build internal links
Cross check page titles
Brand Awareness on social media
Better Website Development and Structure Means Better Website Crawling
Google spiders search billions of pages on the web and compile a massive index. Their algorithm has over 200 factors. According to Google, it is a must that they can crawl and index your site correctly. If you have poor drug rehab SEO website development, chances are extremely slim in achieving a coveted site-link in Google search.
Learn From the Top 3 Reasons Drug Rehab SEO Website Development Hurts Drug Rehab Marketing
Poor drug rehab SEO website development structure is the #1 reason why addiction treatment lead generation fails. Google heavily uses the user’s experience to rank any given site. Google’s algorithm considers many factors. In addition, it looks at loading speed (after 2 seconds you lose 50% of the audience), click-through rates, time on site and frequency of visits to name a few. This article pinpoints these 3 key areas for recovery centers to look for and understand in their marketing.

Using LinkedIn Beyond Addiction Treatment Lead Generation
Many addiction professional outreach profiles on LinkedIn demonstrate they must better understand this valuable business vehicle for networking and addiction treatment marketing. Many need to stop wasting time on LinkedIn and take the time to learn its power. Learning to use this medium, understand its power, secrets, tricks and back-doors is becoming paramount in our industry considering the high turnover rate and daily pressures outreach professionals endure.
LinkedIn has over 550 million professionals, it is too big to ignore. Many professionals in our industry do not try to use this medium until they are looking for a job. At this point it is late in the game to get the best value of this professional “networking” site. It takes time to build a targeted audience and become well known in this extremely large community that goes beyond their normal limits within our industry. Addiction professional outreach in particular should be using LinkedIn for several key reasons.
Their Next Addiction Treatment Center Employment Search
The average length of employment for addiction professionals in outreach for addiction treatment marketing is 6-12 months. Behavioral Health Network Resources knows this because many contact us in panic mode looking to gain access to our resources to find a new job. This first thing we look at is their employment history. The blame here is not entirely on the short-term lengths of employment by the individuals, but also on the treatment centers. They do not provide the tools, or training for their marketing staff. Wherever the blame is, it doesn’t change the fact that these professionals need to find another position to support themselves and their families.
Becoming a Known Addiction Treatment Center Marketing Professional
When you regularly use LinkedIn you also organically build an audience. This should be a strategic plan to connect and get to know different segments of people that may help you in the future. For outreach professionals these segments include CEO’s, Executive Directors, Marketing Directors and other outreach professionals. It should also include anyone that fits into their future employment plans. Waiting until you need an addiction professional outreach job is not the time to start doing this. You need to already have them as level one connections. This is critical because if they are connected to you, and you have utilized LinkedIn with pulse posts, groups, remarks and likes they should already know about you. This provides you with a warm lead source when job hunting.
Branding Your Current Organizations
LinkedIn should be a part of every treatment centers marketing plan, not just addiction professional outreach. It is an excellent place to brand your organization. All but a few organizations understand the value and power of LinkedIn for branding and building new referral sources. Many treatment centers, detox’s, sober living facilities and sales/service organizations do not have this in their marketing strategy. LinkedIn can do several things for these organizations if they not only start using it, but also get their staff to use it. LinkedIn can provide massive exposure to the brand, drive visitors to their website and increase their organic SEO. A treatment center, detox, sober living, or sales/service organization with savvy marketing will be able to track visitors from LinkedIn through their Google Analytics and Call Tracking Metrics. If your organization does not have these two vital components they do not understand marketing very well,
As for addiction professional outreach, if you are branding your organization, you are also branding yourself. It is in your best interest to utilize the content your organization has and push it out strategically on LinkedIn. It should also be noted that you must be careful on what you are posting. This is a reflection of you and you must consider the content of the posts. Posts that have no value to the reader, do not attract and engage your targeted audience are a direct reflection of you. On LinkedIn, you want to keep it extremely professional. On Facebook you can be a little more relaxed, however you still must attract, engage and bring value to the reader.
Understanding LinkedIn for Marketing, Branding, SEO and Networking
Learn and understand the powerful attributes that produce specific results in order to stop wasting time on this site. LinkedIn is like going to an addiction and behavioral health conference and their are 20 million addiction and behavioral health professionals there to meet. Being there is not enough, you need to attract them, make them go to your website and engage with them to get results in you’re addiction professional outreach efforts. You also want your organization to provide links on their blog to your profile. This benefits them by a good back link and benefits you by getting new page views and possible connections. Your organizations blog should be posting new content and engaging visitors.
Attending and Utilizing Time at Addiction Conferences
Outreach professionals need to learn more ways to effectively network, brand and market. Here is a video on what to do at addiction conferences with some tips on how to maximize your time when attending these events.
Addiction Professional Networking
Behavioral Health Network Resources was started with addiction professional outreach efforts. We have extensively studied and mastered many secrets, tricks and back doors on LinkedIn. We have built up over 30,000 LinkedIn addiction and behavioral health level one connections, over 35,000 addiction and behavioral health followers and we own 12 addiction and behavioral health groups with over 50,000 members. We also also own 14 groups on Facebook that have over 60,000 members with the Addiction Professional Referral Group (20,000 members) being our most active group. We have built these resources to benefit addiction and behavioral health professionals in their difficult job and in an effort to gain support of our conferences educating on ethical business and marketing practices.
Addiction Professional Outreach Needs to Build a Network
LinkedIn Addiction Professionals Stop Wasting Time
The reason we have dedicated our time to these social media’s is due to the lack of in-depth participation form organizations in our industry; treatment centers, detox’s, sales/service organizations and behavioral health organizations. The rules on getting distribution of posts on social media are changing. Facebook is limiting views of business pages, and personal posts. One of the best ways to get your posts viewed is through groups and personal profiles. Every post is either placed in a group members personal page, or placed in their notifications. If organizations in the addiction treatment industry do not start building a targeted audience through groups, they will continuously have to pay to play. As an outreach professional for an organization in our industry, if you build a targeted group, you provide a valuable asset not only to yourself, but also the treatment center you are working for currently.
Many addiction professionals on LinkedIn are wasting their time by not knowing how to get more reach. This is combined with incorrect postings, poor branding, lack of understanding that marketing has several distinct purposes and no activity at all. Millennial’s have changed how to market and you need content and a social media footprint. A post can potentially reach 100,000’s targeted individuals.
LinkedIn Addiction Treatment Marketing Ideas
LinkedIn addiction professionals specifically need to demonstrate their products or services without being cold or hard edged, brand them as a leader, produce traffic to their companies website to increase organic SEO, get the visitor to call or purchase their products or services, establish new relationships that will bear fruit and most importantly attract and engage their target audience.
Outreach professionals for centers or sales/service organizations can use this extremely valuable medium in connecting with referral sources, networking, branding, generating traffic and used in conjunction with other pieces of their marketing mix.
Last week, I noticed one respected addiction executive professional wasting his time trying to market his center on LinkedIn. This was an excellent opportunity to pitch our ‘Get Linked for Addiction Professionals” training. So, I personally called him. I said, “I noticed you’re a little active on LinkedIn. How is that working for you?.”
He said, “Wow, your a real person, I thought your profile was a machine. To be honest, I have received very little results. I’m trying to bring awareness to potential referral sources on our new medication assisted therapy service. Can you tell me how I can do this better on LinkedIn.”
I asked him, “How much time do you spend on LinkedIn?”. He said about an 30 minutes a day. I then asked him, “What results have you gotten from it?” He said, “nothing.”
I told him that I already figured that out by looking your profile and poor activity. I had him pull up his summary of Pulse posts (one of the best indicators on post views inside LinkedIn,) and showed him he was only getting between 10 and 50 views per post. Many are not even doing pulse posts. To put that into perspective our Pulse posts get 300-10,000 views.
I said, “That is the reason for my call. I have been noticing your activity, what and how you are doing it, and couldn’t stand to watch you waste so much time.” I then asked him, “How much is your time worth?” He said, “About $300/hr-$500/hr.”
Addiction Professional Outreach Learn How to Use LinkedIn
I told him, “What if I could save you 1000’s of hours a year on your marketing efforts on LinkedIn, drastically extend the reach of your posts, by giving you two hours of training showing you many of the secrets, tricks and back doors of LinkedIn, how to utilize your LinkedIn contacts inside and outside of LinkedIn and get you 1,000 new targeted level one connections?” He said, “Oh, here’s the pitch that’s going to cost me $1,000’s of dollars.”
Addiction Professional Outreach Needs to Work Smarter
I told him, there are so many wasted marketing dollars in addiction treatment marketing including time wasted on LinkedIn. This program offers a “lifetime value” as these new connections are yours for life. You will get many life time views of your articles and continue to save hours and hours of wasted time for the rest of your life. Our “Get Linked for Addiction Professionals” program is much less than you think. In less than one week your LinkedIn will blow up with new targeted contacts, and two weeks after the training you will be able to see the views on your posts drastically increase.
LinkedIn addiction professionals also must realize that LinkedIn is only a small portion of the marketing mix that treatment centers, detox’s, sales/service organizations and behavioral health organizations need. Finding their marketing mix is confusing and overwhelming. However, LinkedIn has uses within and outside of LinkedIn, and should be in the marketing mix for everyone in our industry. We provide social media training (LinkedIn and Facebook) for outreach professionals at everyone of our Ethical Marketing Practices conferences. Check it out and consider attending our next event on 3/30/18.
For all this to work many pieces need to be put in place; properly set-up website, SEO, optimized articles, Google Analytics, call tracking metrics and more. The addiction industry is experiencing major business and marketing changes and those that do not use social media to get their message in front of their target audience will not survive in web marketing.

Rehab marketing practices have been scrutinized for a long time. Patient brokering is the #1 topic in our industry. The New York Times recently released the article “Google Sets Limits on Addiction Treatment Ads, Citing Safety”. Many industry marketing experts agree that this is a good thing for our industry. We spoke with Jim Peake, CEO of Addiction-Rep, a national leader in best rehab marketing practices. He said, “Treatment centers that have the proper SEO, a large organic audience, and a large distribution channel on social media will be the ones that survive.”
Google Forcing Drug Rehab Marketing Practices from PPC to SEO, and Organic Marketing
The Google restrictions are going to rock our industry. Behavioral Health Network Resources has been educating the addiction treatment industry on organic marketing since it was founded. Our entire business model is based upon ethical organic marketing. Not only do we provide this for our clients, we also hold addiction executive conferences on ethical rehab marketing practices. At every one of these addiction conferences, we educate on why treatment centers must do organic marketing. It is the most effective and powerful marketing strategy.
Wasted Time and Rehab Marketing Dollars
Addiction treatment centers are now understanding the magnitude of the major shifts occurring in our industry. These shifts include paid AdWords, organic rankings, and marketing. Consider this, 5-10% of all internet traffic that is clicked on is attributable to paid search. While 50-60% is attributable to organic search. Organic searches are results from a search engine that appear because of their relevance to the search terms. So, why have treatment centers not done proper drug rehab SEO, and organic marketing? Many do not understand the importance of proper website structure and are not educated on exactly what needs to be in place structurally on a website. Their lack of knowledge extends even further with on-site, and off-site SEO and social media marketing. All these components must be in place to start ranking in the Google 3-pack and in the top 5 organic slots on page one of Google. The reward is 1000’s of calls which outperforms all other marketing combined.
Many centers take shortcuts with their marketing. They don’t understand that these shortcuts are costing them money. Many of the addiction treatment centers make the same mistakes. In fact, they don’t even realize that if they invested in having their website built properly, with proper SEO, built a proper distribution channel and grew a targeted audience that they would receive the many calls pushed through by the Google Gods. They will never get there unless they dedicate to a long-term marketing strategy, along with marketing specialists, time, and resources needed to start ranking.
Addiction Treatment Centers Need to Build Tribes Focused on Rehab Target Market
Get educated on proper website structure, SEO and building a targeted social media audience by 5 Executive Panelists.

The Google restrictions make it paramount for centers to have proper SEO, and to start building a social media presence. It’s going to affect all addiction treatment center operators. It’s probably the biggest event to help ethical operators that we have seen. Our industry has been complaining about bad rehab marketing practices, and clickbait tactics for a long- time. The blatant abuse of brand infringement tactics including; website hijacking, changing Google business information, and keyword clicking needed to be addressed. Google’s power is immense, and the ultimate in marketing for all that appear on page one.
Google’s restrictions will assist the big players and the small players. The ethical players that will benefit will be the one that has correctly set-up their marketing foundation. Below are 6 essential items needed to achieve high organic ranking on Google. These 6 items are a must for all treatment centers.
Addiction Treatment Centers Google Business Page Listings are Being Hijacked
The deceptive marketing practices on Google are not just with AdWords. We have seen marketing companies, and treatment centers hijacking Google Business listings. Our organization has brought national exposure to this issue. Stealing, or changing Google business listings for organizations in Florida is a bad idea. If someone changes those listings in Florida, they are subject to the new deceptive marketing laws passed on July 1, 2017. These new laws bring jail time, felonies, and heavy fines for anyone participating in deceptive marketing practices. You can read these news laws at the bottom of this article, “Patient Brokering Top 5 Legal Things Nationally.”
If you find incorrect information or information where your website or phone number are being redirected, you can do several things to correct this;

Best Rehab Marketing Practices
Marketing in the addiction industry is now paramount due to the new laws directly affecting Florida. These laws indirectly affect the entire US. If you don’t get your marketing in check, you will be out of business within the next 12 months. Now, with the Google restrictions, many treatment centers are scrambling with their marketing efforts. They have survived with limited marketing knowledge and experience, however, now they must understand, track, and wisely invest in a healthy marketing mix.
Website Rehab Marketing Strategies
Many centers do not understand or value their website. Your website is the foundation of all your web marketing. Many treatment centers judge their websites on its aesthetics, however, this is only a small piece of what your website does, or can do, to generate clients. Think of a website as a watch, there are a lot of moving pieces underneath that need to work in perfect harmony. You buy a cheap watch and it looks beautiful, however, in a short period of time, it doesn’t work. You should think of your website as a Rolex and invest in it correctly the first time with a web company that only services our industry. A company that has years of experience because if you don’t, you will be paying for someone’s education and mistakes.
Building a Targeted Audience that Treatment Centers Own
Think of all the dollars you have spent on marketing and take inventory of anything tangible that you have as a result. Treatment centers should have a large audience on social media, and a large active email database of addiction professionals for referrals, individuals seeking treatment, and their alumni.
Consider this, LinkedIn has 500 professionals (over 20 million addiction professionals), Facebook has 2 billion people (millions belong to addiction groups), and Twitter has 328 million monthly users. These are the sites that will build your audience and drive traffic. Done correctly, you should be able to drive 1000’s of targeted visitors to your site in 7-10-day periods with a blog that has proper SEO. This drives target market traffic and increases SEO.
SEO Rehab Marketing Strategies
The term SEO is extremely broad and often misunderstood. Your website must be structurally correct to achieve SEO rankings. This is the first step to proper drug rehab SEO, and is often not done properly. Many centers have a friend that does websites or a staff member that does websites on the side. You must use a web marketing professional to build your website. Preferably, a professional that specializes in the addiction treatment industry.
After the basic structure of your website has proper SEO, you must start using a blog. The blogs need to be focused on the keywords you want to rank for, and it must be attracting and engaging your target audience. The blogs must have proper SEO to get the Google spiders to start ranking them. This takes time and a minimum of 2 blogs per week. Writing a lot of valuable content that attracts and engages is not enough to achieve rankings. Everything on your website must be in the proper format, structure, keywords, and several different back-links play a critical role.
Once the blogs are in place, you need to push them out on social media. This takes an intimate understanding of the specific social media and a built (targeted) audience. There are several specific goals you are trying to achieve. These goals include; driving targeted traffic to your website, getting “do follow” back-links, and having the content get shared. This sharing can take place directly on the social media platform, or at your website.
Google Analytics Rehab Marketing Practices
Your addiction treatment marketing should be about 20% of your annual revenue to achieve growth. Many break this down in different ways; some include salaries, all operating costs, cost of operating per client, and other factors. No matter how you break it down, you are spending big dollars on marketing. You MUST be able to track the results of your addiction treatment marketing.
Many centers do not have, do not use, or don’t understand Google analytics. You must have your analytics configured correctly and understand the data. You need to know what is generating clicks to your website, what pages and articles are getting the most click-troughs, geographic location of the clicks, real-time visitors, click troughs for the day and month, traffic sources, articles that are producing visitors, and many more.
Call Tracking Rehab Marketing Practices
This is must information for centers CEO’s and Executives. With the many marketing pieces in place with your marketing mix, you must know the call metrics. Each marketing avenue, landing page, splash page, source, purchased call center leads, and many more have a distinct phone number assigned to it. There is no more guessing on what is producing the calls. You can tell where the call comes from, how long the call was, who made the call, what produced the call, geographic location and much more. The cost of call tracking metrics in addiction treatment marketing is extremely low. CLICK HERE to check out the most efficient and popular call tracking system in our industry.
PPC Rehab Marketing Practices
Google’s restrictions have affected all players. Certainly, the players that have part of their budget in AdWords. We will see them shifting to GEO targeting and using the smaller search engines like Bing, Yahoo, and MSN. They will not be able to scale to the large numbers of Google, however, they will get clients with a CPA that will be lower.
This is a critical time for many treatment centers.

Google analytics can tell you about geographical locations, traffic sources, content visited real-time metrics, or over any period. It can also tell you the number of visitors to your site for any period, your visitor’s interests, engagement, what pages your potential clients are visiting once they are on your site, and how long they were there.
#2 Call Tracking Metrics is Not Used to Track Drug Rehab Lead Generation
The second of the top 3 drug rehab marketing missing links is call tracking. This is an absolute must, and an inexpensive tool providing vital data for your addiction treatment center marketing. Again, you must have this tool to understand if the calls being generated are from your buy drug rehab leads funnel. If you don’t have it you should implement it.
This tells you exactly what parts of your addiction treatment marketing mix are generating calls.
Call tracking is a slick tool that tells you the path they took on your website, name of the caller, location, date, time and length of the call. Even more powerful for your drug rehab marketing is you can assign a unique phone number for every aspect of your marketing. You can assign a single number for all your Facebook marketing. A single number for each of your splash pages. A single number for the call center you are using, and many more.
#3 Social Media Educates Against a Buy Drug Rehab Leads Strategy
The last of the top 3 drug rehab marketing missing links is social media marketing. This was an unexpected lesson I learned when I started my drug rehab marketing agency. I kind of understood social media by intimately knowing LinkedIn. However, I did not realize how much powerful Facebook was in growing targeted groups and driving much more targeted traffic to a website (500-1000 views per article in a 5-7-day period.)
I also learned that the power of Facebook is in the personal profiles and owning groups. We ran tests over a year on our Facebook drug rehab marketing page which was robust and compared that to our personal profiles, and 14 addiction and behavioral health groups. The results were astounding clear that the power of Facebook lies in the personal profiles and groups we owned. The activity and engagement were 100 times greater! It made me realize the drug rehab marketing mistakes that many treatment centers make in their drug rehab marketing plan.
Social media allows you to reach the largest audience over any other medium. Used correctly, you can reach potential addiction treatment clients in large numbers. Here are the must use social media for treatment center marketing; Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, and G+.
Many centers do not understand the different social mediums, and how to unleash the power they possess. Each medium has its own secrets, tricks, and back-doors that treatment centers executives and marketing professionals must understand. Many addiction treatment marketing professionals are wasting tremendous amounts of time when using social media. Social media, if used correctly can generate targeted and measurable visitors to your website and direct phone calls. This is an excellent way to get out of the short-term solution of a buy rehab leads strategy.
First, let’s understand business marketing has specific goals and steps to achieve those goals. The goals of business marketing are to attract, engage, capture and convert. You are not going to attract addiction treatment clients with; “Were Sunshine Addiction, JACHO Accredited, and Have Empty Beds”, or “Check Out Our New Website.”
The two ways to attract your target audience are with the picture, title of the post and a few lines of copy. Remember, you are competing against massive amounts of traffic on Facebook (billions of interactions every day.) All three of these components must attract and engage on an emotional level. Many recovery centers do not understand this strategy due to their buy rehab leads mentality demanding instant results.
Addiction treatment center marketing must have engaging content with blog posts (proper search engine optimization, housed on the website with a good call to action) that are relevant. The goal is to touch and engage on an emotional level those that may need help.
Interesting Drug Rehab Marketing Facts on Facebook
Here are some interesting facts about users (2 billion) of Facebook. Remember what you are competing against to get potential addiction treatment clients to click through to your website;
90% of web users ages 18-29 are using Facebook
80% of the US web users ages 30-49 are on Facebook
70% of web users that are college educated and earn more than $75,000 per year are on Facebook
Facebook is the #1 used social media site in the world, that is why we included it in our top 3 drug rehab marketing missing links. Facebook paid marketing works, however, you must completely understand how to use it. Either way, paying someone that doesn’t understand it, or doing it in-house could be costing you marketing dollars. It is paramount that you correctly install and format the Facebook pixel on your website and correctly format it within Facebook.
This is critical for Facebook to capture anyone that was interested in your campaigns. Done correctly, Facebook will be able to re-target them on future campaigns. This way you are maximizing your marketing dollars because you have corralled them for the future. Facebook marketing must be in your Addiction treatment center marketing mix organically, and, or with paid advertising.

What is Addiction Treatment Center Lead Generation?
Addiction treatment center marketing lead generation strategies is a big picture and you need a vision for long-term solutions. Many treatment centers are short-sighted with their addiction treatment center marketing spend efforts. I’m not the only one that sees this in the addiction treatment and addiction sales/service markets. So much, that they don’t read, or understand their Google Analytics. Also, many do not have call tracking telling them where the call came from (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, organic, paid, etc.). What articles are producing the most calls, and who made the call. You also get their contact information and much more intel.
Many industry experts are saying that only about 5-10% of all internet traffic is attributable to paid search. While 50-60% is attributable to organic search. Organic searches are results from a search engine that appear because of their relevance to the search terms.
There are big dollars spent on addiction treatment center marketing lead generation strategies in the Addiction Treatment Industry. It takes a lot to get treatment clients and to get sales/service business. According to Forbes Magazine, 40 BILLION Dollars of revenue are generated from addiction treatment alone. If you are savvy in addiction treatment center marketing lead generation strategies, you are spending 20% of your revenue on marketing. That means there are over 8 billion dollars being spent on addiction treatment marketing in our industry. Even well-established centers, and especially new centers should have an addiction treatment center consultant guiding, and steering them away from costly mistakes.
Driving Visitors to Your Website Equals More Treatment Calls
It generally takes about 10-15 treatment calls to generate one client in addiction treatment center marketing lead generation strategies. The CPA is generally $3,000-$5,000 per client depending on how you break it down. In that process, there are 100’s that have touched upon their center. The days of being happy about getting that one treatment call is gone. You need to repeatedly and continually get them back into your referral sales funnel. Also, focusing on a minimum of 4 social mediums (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube) is an absolute must. However, they need an established large audience, and solid content to drive traffic (we drive 500-1000 visitors every 7-10 days) organically growing SEO is paramount. Social media is a must for any treatment center, and they need to learn how to build their own electronic assets.
Addiction Treatment Center Marketing Lead Generation Strategies
Many small to medium size players have unsophisticated marketing infrastructure in place. They have an overall lack of knowledge of drug rehab marketing. They have been somewhat successful until now in the ADWORDS sandbox and using drug rehab call centers to generate treatment calls. Google pay per click is not the answer for drug rehabilitation centers. There are more reliable marketing strategies for substance abuse treatment. Rehab owners need a long-term plan, with a diverse marketing mix, that gives them something to show for their yearly spend on addiction treatment marketing.
With the game being restricted it is difficult to generate qualified leads. The Google restrictions and new drug rehab call centers restrictions coming are squeezing many substance abuse treatment centers. There marketing has completely stopped with nothing to show for their spend. Placing a solid organic model to their addiction treatment center marketing lead generation strategies mix would have played better. They would still have a steady drip of conversions, and steady Eddy SEO with an audience they own.
Content Models take time to start producing (6-9 months) and take years to put your organization in their optimum position. It takes an understanding of social media, email marketing, SEO, call tracking, Google analytics and much more. Here is Gov. Scott’s Press Release Declaring Statewide Public Health Emergency for Opioid Epidemic
Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) declaring a national opioid epidemic, Governor Rick Scott signed Executive Order 17-146 directing a Public Health Emergency across the state. By signing the Emergency Order, it will allow the state to immediately draw down more than $27 million in federal grant funding from the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Opioid State Targeted Response Grant which was awarded to Florida on April 21 to provide prevention, treatment and recovery support services. Without the order, it would have taken months for the state to distribute these funds to local communities. In addition to declaring a Public Health Emergency, Surgeon General Dr. Celeste Philip will issue a standing order for Naloxone, an emergency treatment for opioid overdose. This will ensure first responders have immediate access to this lifesaving drug to respond to opioid overdoses.
Governor Scott said, “Today, I issued an executive order which allows the state to immediately draw down more than $27 million in federal grant funding which will immediately be distributed to communities across the state to deal with the opioid epidemic. HHS Secretary Dr. Tom Price awarded the Opioid State Targeted Response Grant to Florida and I want to thank the Trump Administration for their focus on this national epidemic. I have also directed State Surgeon General Dr. Celeste Philip to declare a Public Health Emergency and issue a standing order for Naloxone in response to the opioid epidemic in Florida.
“Last month, I directed the Department of Children and Families (DCF), the Department of Health (DOH) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to meet with communities in Palm Beach, Manatee, Duval, and Orange Counties to identify additional strategies to fight the rising opioid usage cases in Florida. They have gotten a lot of feedback this week and we will continue to look at additional ways we can fight this national epidemic which has taken the lives of many Floridians.
“I know firsthand how heartbreaking substance abuse can be to a family because it impacted my own family growing up. The individuals struggling with drug use are sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and friends and each tragic case leaves loved ones searching for answers and praying for help. Families across our nation are fighting the opioid epidemic and Florida is going to do everything possible to help our communities.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi said, “This declaration will help strengthen our continued efforts to combat the national opioid epidemic claiming lives in Florida by providing additional funding to secure prevention, treatment and recovery support services. I want to thank Governor Rick Scott for his continued partnership in combating drug abuse in our state; from shutting down pill mills to outlawing deadly synthetic drugs, Governor Scott has long supported efforts by my office and law enforcement to raise awareness, stop drug abuse and save lives.”
