California Drug Rehabs Vs Patient Brokering

California drug rehabs are starting to feel the pain of new patient brokering laws and it’s only going to get worse. Learning from history is one of the most valuable tools in life. What California is now experiencing in drug rehab marketing legislation, Florida has been through. Florida with it’s “new Florida model” has set the pace for patient brokering laws in the drug and alcohol addiction treatment industry.

California Drug Rehabs New Laws Affecting Marketing

Drug rehabs California new patient brokering laws affecting substance abuse treatment centers.California drug rehabs and drug rehabilitation centers across the US have been operating unethically for many years. The heroin epidemic has exposed many fraudulent practices in this 40 billion dollar a year industry. Lawmakers are making their way across the nation with patient brokering laws to save lives and protect the vulnerable. The new laws in California are going to directly affect the ability to operate in the state if they are operating unethically, or adopt a healthy business and marketing mix.

California Drug Rehabs Need Proven Business and Marketing Strategies

The California Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS) website displays a Temporary Suspension Order, Revoked and Notice of Operation in Violation of Law Program List. This list has 84 substance abuse treatment centers.

California substance abuse treatment centers and sober livings are going to have to adopt ethical business and marketing practices to survive. They need to look at and understand what happened in Florida over the past 1-1/2 years to navigate the new and difficult landscape. Some ethical treatment centers in Florida were forced to close their doors. Whether California drug rehabs are operating ethically or participating in some form of patient brokering, they must adopt new business and marketing strategies. Digital Darwinism is the #1 reason these centers have failed. Substance abuse facilities across the nation are losing the battle between drug rehab SEO vs digital Darwinism.

What Are the Patient Brokering Laws for California Drug Rehabs?

California drug rehabs new patient brokering lawsSenator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) signed the SB 1228, Lara. Alcoholism or drug abuse recovery and treatment services: referrals law on September 27, 2018. This law demonstrates that California will no longer tolerate patient brokering by substance use treatment centers and individual’s partaking in unethical marketing. Lawmakers still have much work to do with sober homes and enforcing the new laws.

While California used Florida laws to mold their legislation, it has some more severe ramifications that deter unethical practices. For instance, under the law, either the addiction treatment center or individual professional can have their license or credentials revoked, extended or denied. If a substance use disorder (SUD) facility loses their license, it will take about 18 months to reopen. Florida does not have this law on the books for drug rehabs West Palm Beach.

California Drug Rehabs Must Learn From Florida

California drug rehabs must adopt a healthy business and marketing mix.Florida was the first state to focus on patient brokering laws in the substance abuse industry. They have set the pace for the nation, but it has affected some ethical operators that did not change their business and marketing strategy. The media was quick to jump on the bandwagon providing, for the most part, unethical journalism.

The negative “Florida shuffle” press and isolated exposure of patient brokering in Florida caused individuals seeking addiction treatment to stay away. This caused some ethical drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers in Florida to close their doors. More importantly, it may have put them into life-threatening situations that are happening across the nation. This negative press is now being experienced by California with the media’s “Rehab Riviera” label.

California drug rehabs need to adopt ethical and healthy business best practices. Many need to look closely at their current marketing plan and drug rehab marketing mix. As Florida has experienced, relying on laissez-faire strategies will put your business at extreme risk. Mainly using boots on the ground, calls centers and PPC are not enough with the rapidly changing environment. you may also want to join the exclusive California Addiction Professionals Referral Groups.

Addiction Conferences by Behavioral Health Network Resources

How to Prepare for Addiction Conferences

Addiction conferences preparation has benefits for addiction treatment centers, detox’s, sober livings and ancillary service providers. As behavioral health industry professionals, we are experiencing moments of change in how we operate. However, when attending mental health conferences there are several key areas to focus on to get much-needed business and marketing tools. There are several goals to bear in mind when attending addiction conferences and networking events. These goals vary depending on the position you have with your behavioral health organization. CEO’s, Executives, Directors and Outreach professionals, by design of their role, have different objectives. However, getting out of your comfort zone can pay great dividends if done strategically.

Addiction Conferences Preperation Generates ROI

Addiction conferences preparation educates on industry changes

How to perform addiction conferences preparation?

The addiction treatment industry is experiencing many different changes in the business and marketing side. It is vital that you walk away with new business strategies, marketing plan ideas, and drug rehab lead generation sources. The behavioral health industry has several critical pain points that CEO’s and Owners are experiencing. New operational and marketing laws as spreading across the nation thanks to the new “Florida Model” paving the road with their new patient brokering and operational laws as of July 1, 2017. Getting educated on ethical business and marketing strategies at addiction conferences is paramount at this critical time to survive. Some centers that continued with laissez-faire strategies, resisted change or did not seek the proper education and tools have not survived the red ocean. It is paramount for behavioral health organizations addiction conferences preparation to get specific and strategic intelligence.

CEO’s and Executives Focus on the Big Picture at Addiction Conferences

Drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers, detox’s and sober homes owners have a difficult job. They need to focus on the business, marketing and clinical side of their organization. Many addiction executives are strong on the clinical aspects and addiction treatment in general. Most have started their addiction treatment center because of their strength in this area and their passion to help others struggling with addiction. However, this is only 1/3 of what it takes to run a successful center.

When attending addiction conferences and speaking with CEO

When CEO’s and addiction Executives attend addiction conferences their conversations are much different than the conversation of let’s say Outreach professionals. According to the Harvard Business Review article, “Sales People Need a Strategy for Selling to CEOs,” CEO’s are focused on business outcomes, how decisions affect the entire organization and maximizing their time. The upper management Executives have a much wider business education. They are looking for business and marketing solutions to their pain points. Accreditation, billing procedures, collections, a decent EMR (electronic medical records system,) admissions processes, effective marketing strategies, legal aspects, new revenue sources, aftercare opportunities and many more. They generally are not there to network but to find proven and ethical solutions. They are relying on particular presenters, drug rehab marketing consultants and finding the business and marketing expert leaders attending these addiction professional conferences. They are particularly interested in drug rehab marketing strategies and billing as these are two key areas that generate revenue for the organization.

Directors are Guided by CEO’s and Executives Vision

Directors are also focused on the same areas as the CEO’s and Executives. The difference being is that they put the CEO’s and Executives vision into play. It is vital that they get better educated by the conference presenters, exhibitors a few select attendees that are specialists in whatever is on their plate at that time. While most Directors in the behavioral health industry have in-depth knowledge in many areas, they need to be experts when leading the company in new areas. They also should be evaluating current procedures and ancillary providers on a regular basis (at the very least every year) to save or generate new revenue. All of these carries great responsibility and consume great amounts of time.

Marketing Dirsctors role while attending addiction conferences

Addiction conferences preparation can provide knowledge and experience from proven thought leaders to assist drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers, detoxes and sober livings Directors in their roles. However, this can be difficult at times because at many mental health conferences there are several presentations going on at the same time. It is impossible for the Directors to be in two places at the same time. Directors need to pick and choose based on their priorities or rely on another employee to attend the other presentation.

Outreach Professionals and Business Development; Obtaining Tools is Critical

Outreach professionals for addiction treatment centers, detox’s, sober homes and service organizations have an extremely stressful position. Unfortunately, the average Outreach position lasts for about 6-12 months. They can no longer just rely on their personal connections. We have seen this on LinkedIn with our 30,000 addiction and behavioral health level one connections. Viewing these LinkedIn profiles while we are growing our tribes it is very concerning. One of the main reasons is this role has traditionally lacked in gaining useful tools to assist them in their daily jobs.

It’s obvious that Outreach professionals are constantly obtaining new clinical knowledge. However, many are not getting the tools on the business and marketing side of behavioral health that are now paramount in their success. They need customer relationship management (CRM’s,) networking tools and strategies, call center training, overall marketing, branding, social media, email marketing, closing techniques and more.

Addiction conferences provide strategies and solutions

Addiction conferences preparation should be providing some of these tools. These tools are essential in their role of generating drug rehab leads. Many owners and operators do not realize that one employee turnover costs about $20,000. Owners and Outreach professionals should aggressively be seeking these tools. Two of the biggest areas are drug rehab marketing and establishing new referral sources. Addiction treatment center marketing is such a vast area that there are always new strategies and techniques to be learned. One of many examples is business development professionals need to intimately understand the power of social media. How they portray themselves and what they put on social media is a direct reflection of their organization’s brand. It also affects establishing new referral sources. Many are ineffectively, or not using at all the #1 business networking site in the world. They are wasting valuable time, or not utilizing their time on LinkedIn.

What is Addiction Conferences Preparation?

utreach professionals must get outside the box at addiction conferencesIn any job, position or role getting out of your comfort zone enables you to grow personally and professionally. This can be difficult because human nature gravitates us towards our comfortable circles. At many substance abuse conferences, you see the same professionals forming in the same groups. Yes, it’s wonderful to chat with our familiar circles, however, it should not dominate your time at these events. Getting outside of the comfort zone, obtaining new tools, business education and forcing yourself to meet everyone in the room is paramount in the state of our industry.

This can be an overwhelming experience and non-productive if you are not prepared. Preparation, maximizing time and follow-up can make the real difference when attending substance abuse conferences. To truly get all the benefits the preparation begins far before the event.

Effective Addiction Networking Starts Weeks Before the Addiction Symposium

With addiction conferences preparation, you should be visiting the conference website. For most addiction conferences, you can get an idea of what organizations will be there. Some event websites only list the sponsors and exhibitors, while others will provide a list of everyone including the attendees.

Examine the list on the event website and write a list putting them into categories like A, B, C, and D. The A’s are the organizations that are new start-ups, organizations that you have been targeting, or ones you must chat with at the event. The B’s are your second tier and so forth. Prepare before you attend the conference. By writing the list and bringing it with you to the event you will not miss any opportunities.

Connecting prior to addiction conferences is importantOne of the best ways addiction conferences preparation is to connect prior to the event.  Most professionals in our industry do not do this. You should at least reach out to your A’s and B’s through LinkedIn prior to the event. Say you want to visit their booth or meet with them at the conference. This soft introduction says you are a professional and you are interested in meeting them. You will also get an idea of who this new potential referral source is and have some background information to reference when you chat at the event.

Make sure your organization’s brochures, business cards, and exhibitor materials are up to date. Many addiction treatment centers, Detox’s, Sober homes and ancillary service providers do a poor job of keeping these items up to date. The products and services often change, and the marketing materials do not reflect those changes. We see this all the time at the addiction Executive conferences that we hold in our industry. It was an issue until we found a promotional products vendor to work with providing these services for our sponsors and exhibitors. They also offer discounts to our participants.

Prepare for Addiction Conferences They Are Valuable

With addiction conferences preparation, drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers, opiate detox’s, inpatient rehabs, intensive outpatient treatment centers, sober livings, and ancillary service providers reap benefits. This article explains how to prepare for addiction conferences before, during and after. Get the most out of attending addiction conferences and networking events. Be strategic, maximize your time and follow-up immediately following the addiction conference.

Addiction Conferences Main CaliforniaBehavioral Health Network resources have been an addiction conferences provider for the last four years. drug-rehab-SEO-and-marketing-vs-Digital-Darwinism

Drug Rehab SEO Vs. Digital Darwinism

Drug rehab SEO is not a one time and your done marketing component for inpatient rehab marketing, substance abuse IOP marketing, and service organizations. Buying treatment calls and boots on the ground marketing strategies are commonly used by many in the recovery industry. These strategies are the most costly in the long run and are proven to be much less effective than in the past. These short-term and costly solutions are used because the recovery industry suffers from Digital Darwinism.

Drug Rehab SEO Vs. Digital Darwinism

digital-Darwinism-affecting-drug-rehab-SEO-and- marketingDigital Darwinism is a sign of the 21st-century demonstrating that conducting business, as usual, will eventually force you to close your doors. There are many addiction treatment centers and behavioral health organizations closing their doors nationwide. The one thing they all had in common is that they suffered from Digital Darwinism. They stayed with past drug rehab marketing and business strategies of a buy rehab leads mentality. These organizations should have learned from Google when addiction treatment ads were first banned on July 1, 2017.

Now, in 2018, if you want to buy rehab leads or do PPC on Google and Facebook you need the Legit Script certification. This certification is only needed if you want to place paid ads on these platforms. This certification does not apply to organic marketing. In order to achieve page one rankings in organic marketing, it takes a structurally correct website, schema, a fast loading website, and drug rehab SEO. Each component requires a specialist with specific knowledge. It takes time and an investment, however, the payoff goes way beyond a buy rehab leads strategy. Consider this, AdWords or PPC only account for about 2% of page one click-throughs, while the first three organic slots account for 70% of page one click-throughs.

Digital Darwinism Fuels Short-term Drug Rehab Marketing Solutions

Digital Darwinism is when technology evolves faster than businesses can adapt. The substance abuse industry has ignored web marketing for short-term solutions to their long-term problem of maintaining a healthy census. Not realizing that the short-term solutions strategy has put them on a hamster wheel with their addiction treatment marketing. They are forced to pay over and over again for the lead generation. Many of the small to medium size recovery centers think that they cannot compete on the web with the big players spending $100,000’s every month.

They can compete with proven strategies put into place properly. Many of these centers have also been burned by the large drug rehab marketing agencies with their cookie cutter option. Many of these agencies do not even rank for key terms for their own business like; drug rehab marketing agency or drug rehab marketing consultants. If they can’t rank their own business, how can you expect them to rank yours? Being educated on the many components of drug rehab SEO, knowing what to look for, and performing some of the SEO themselves will get the smaller centers on page one of Google.

What is Drug Rehab SEO?

Drug rehab SEO has many components including proper website development, schema, Google My Business, proper H tags, keyword counts, META descriptions, SERP descriptions, ALT tags and URL’s to name a few. It is a key component in addiction treatment center lead generation. Then there is off-page SEO that involves citations, back-links, long tail keywords, social media, and email marketing to name a few. These are some of the long-standing components that must be performed. The newest, as of July 2018, is Google’s speed update affecting rankings on mobile devices. We recently spoke with Brian Frye, of Magna Technology, a national leader in website development about the importance of speed. This is what he had to say;

After proper website development and SEO, speed becomes a big factor when ranking on mobile.

While it is impossible to name all the different components, CEO’s and marketing directors must get educated in order to rank on page one organically. Many in the drug rehabilitation industry have a poor website and poor SEO in their lead generation strategy. During our conversation with Mr. Frye, we decided to invite him as one of our 5 Executive Thought Leader panelists at our 10/23/18 addiction conference.

Critical Business Areas Are Drug Rehab Marketing and Substance Abuse Billing

Drug rehab SEO and Substance Abuse Billing are critical mistakes made by treatment centersIn any business, the #1 factor is generating revenue. In the drug and alcohol addiction treatment industry you generate revenue from marketing and billing. Many recovery industry businesses think they have these two areas under control. These are critical areas that CEO’s must be extremely knowledgeable in. In many cases organizations are leaving huge chunks of revenue on the table. Marketing dollars are being thrown and wasted on top of a poorly developed website with poor drug rehab SEO. In-house billing and unchecked substance abuse billing companies are costing centers operating revenue. If you aren’t getting paid in 14-days with some of your receivables, do not know how much is out in receivables, or have large amounts owed you may not be in business much longer.

Our industry is changing fast and the organizations that don’t adapt will not be in business. You will not be able to operate with lazaire fare strategies. Relying upon your marketing Directors and Outreach staff’s book of referral sources puts your organization at great risk. Many are simply shuffling the same referral sources back and forth. This is a short-term strategy that is causing many centers to close their doors.

Marketing Directors in our industry do not understand web marketing in general. They have risen to the position of Marketing Director because at some point they generated a referral base from boots on the ground tactics. What happens many times is that their referral sources dry up and they are let go because they have little value to the organization with substance abuse marketing. They have no marketing education or skills that provide value to the organizations. Judging from the many LinkedIn profiles we see daily, the average length of employment for Marketing Directors is about one year.

Drug Rehab SEO Website Development is the First and Most Important Step

Website-development-affects-drug-rehab-SEO-and-marketingThe very first step in a solid marketing plan and drug rehab SEO is website development. An abundance of centers will use a website designer, not a website developer to build their website. There is a very distinctive difference between these two roles. A website designer will build the most beautiful website. This is often what CEO’s and marketing directors are most concerned with on their website. They don’t understand that this is only a small part of web marketing.

On the other hand, a website developer plays a much larger role in marketing on the web. A website developer puts the many critical components in place that get you ranked on Google. Many judge their website on its’ aesthetics. This is about 10% of what you need to be looking at on a website. The remaining 90% is like the inside of a watch. There are many moving parts that must be placed correctly for Google to rank on page one. Without a structurally sound website, you are leaking wasted marketing dollars. If a website does not have a proper silo, schema, sitemap, HTTPS, mobile optimization or proper local SEO to name a few Google will not rank you, or rank you poorly.

What to Look for in Drug Rehab SEO

A Marketing Director position definitely says you are an addiction professional. As a professional, you should be skilled in every aspect of that position. This biggest chunk of that position is web marketing. Web marketing if executed correctly outperforms all other marketing combined. There are only a few small to medium size addiction treatment centers, detox’s, sober living facilities and sales/service organizations that have a decent web marketing strategy. If your organization or drug rehab marketing agency is not on the first page of Google in the 3-pack or in the first three slots on page one organically for key longtail keywords (ie drug rehabs West Palm Beach) you are not doing your job very well.

Addiction Conferences Main CaliforniaYou can get answers to these critical questions and more at Behavioral Health Network Resources addiction conferences EMP (ethical marketing Practices) Series next event on 1/22/19 in Costa Mesa California. This conference will cover ethical business and marketing practices. Our panelists will educate on ethical drug rehab marketing, proper website development, SEO, social media marketing, and more to be announced.

Outreach Needs More Marketing Education

This is even more evident for Outreach positions. There are many new pups that are in the role of Outreach. Many are out of treatment for less than a year, and again have some source for referrals. Once their referral sources dry up or get reduced they are given the talk by the treatment center owner that they have 30 days to start generating more referrals. In that 30 days, they are aggressively seeking new treatment centers for employment. Many times this is when they try to start using LinkedIn for outreach and addiction professional networking. As an Outreach professional and certainly as a Marketing Director you need to understand the complexities of web marketing.

Understanding Drug Rehab SEO Vs. Digital Darwinism

drug-rehab-SEO-and-substance-abuse-marketing-solutionsYour drug rehab SEO and marketing plan should utilize many different areas. Not getting up to speed with Digital Darwinism could be a deadly mistake. Once you have set-up the proper foundation you need to drive your target market to your website. Many drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers, opiate detox’s, sober livings and behavioral health sales/service organizations do not have the proper foundation in place. Without the proper website foundation, you are wasting large amounts of money on marketing. A website is like an iceberg only 10% of it is showing. The 90% underneath is the critical piece to be examined. Many organizations judge their website on how it looks. This is a critical and costly mistake.

Drug rehab SEO is extremely complicated and behavioral health organizations need to be educated on what needs to be done. SEO involves key search words, H tags, internal and external links, high PR back-links, citations, Google My Business, Google 3-pack, schema, site speed, SERPS, and this list goes on. While this article provides a healthy checklist for drug rehab SEO, there is much more. SEO is an on-going task and treatment centers must take on more of this role. We not only perform drug rehab SEO, but we also teach our clients to be able to perform many tasks needed for SEO. Sober Homes West Palm Beach May Not Need FARR Certification

Sober Homes West Palm Beach Is FARR Mandatory Update

Sober homes in West Palm Beach and drug addiction treatment centers were confused about the controversial requirements for day/night community providers. Is FARR certification mandatory or not? We now know the answer. We are also providing information on where this ruling is going and what it means to addiction treatment center’s future.

The controversy was fueled by the new questionable laws that were passed and by random, misleading emails from organizations within the drug and alcohol addiction treatment industry. There have even been personal derogatory remarks and biased opinions omitting facts for personal interest. Such remarks only demonstrate poor professionalism and poor character.

Behavioral Health Network Resources stance is not to interpret either side, but to provide quality information from credible sources. We felt it was our responsibility to educate providers on regulation for sober homes in West Palm Beach to help the understand this controversial matter. We even invited Florida Healthcare Law Firm as our guest at the Addiction Ethical Marketing Practices conference held on 6/27/18. At that conference, Florida Healthcare Law Firm took what turns out to be a highly respected stance against the law and DCF.

Are Sober Livings and Sober Homes in West Palm Beach Required to be FARR Certified?

Are sober homes West Palm Beach required to be FARR certification?Halfway houses, sober homes in West Palm Beach, drug addiction treatment centers have been under great scrutiny for over a year. The Sober Homes Task Force has brought drug rehab marketing regulations and investigations. The main focus has been to help protect the vulnerable using legal prosecution, heavy fines, felony charges and jail time. Although they have been quite they are investigating body brokering and building cases. In addition, Congress is investigating 8 drug rehab call centers and demanding documentation on how they have been operating. Congress sent these drug rehab call centers letters requesting detailed and in-depth answers to ten questions. Even with all the new laws and regulations, there are still some gray areas. One of these gray areas is whether sober homes providing day and night treatment in the West Palm Beach area are required by law to have FARR certification.

Misinformation on 𝙎𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙃𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙒𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙋𝙖𝙡𝙢 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 Use a Law FirmInterpretation of any law should be made by a specialized attorney especially concerning sober homes in West Palm Beach. Relying on second-hand information or information from your peers could cost you dearly. In light of the misinformed emails, we decided to speak with Florida Healthcare Law Firm, a popular panelist at Behavioral Health Network Resources Ethical Marketing Practices conferences. This what they had to say prior to 6/27/18;

We filed a petition for a declaratory statement on behalf of a drug addiction treatment centerand day/night community housing client concerning sober homes West Palm Beach to get a declaratory statement from DCF in one direction or the other and it has NOT been resolved yet.

Drug Addiction Treatment Centers Fight

Sober Homes West Palm Beach do Not Need FARR CertificationWhen asked about why Amethyst drug addiction treatment center filed for clarification, Pamela Springer, Chief Operating Officer with Amethyst Recovery Center stated, “Amethyst supports FARR’s mission and the State of Florida’s requirement for recovery residence certification. However, thus far, DCF has indicated to Amethyst Recovery Center that it does not require FARR certification for licensed community housing.  FARR has stated to us and other providers that Day and Night treatment with community housing must obtain FARR certification or they will be in violation of the law.  This is the reason we sought clarification from DCF.”

Day and Night Treatment Providers with community housing may make referrals for individuals who have completed inpatient treatment, requiring them to step down to an outpatient provider. Many times, clients desire to live in a recovery residence to maintain their sobriety.   In that case, it would be appropriate for the Day and Night Treatment Provider to refer to a FARR-certified recovery residence.

Are Insurance Companies Involved with the Confusion of Halfway Houses and Drug Addiction Treatment Centers West Palm Beach?

FARR misusing power of new laws for addiction treatment centers and sober livingsThat much is clear. What is less clear for sober homes in West Palm Beach and drug rehabilitation centers is whether the FARR position will be used as another way for insurers to drive providers out of business.  One of the things the addiction treatment industry has seen a lot of in recent years is insurance companies using allegations of regulatory non-compliance as a method of red flagging, auditing and refusing to pay (and recouping payments) for addiction treatment.  Is this latest complication in the addiction treatment industry an opportunity for insurers to do the same thing?  Is it reasonable to expect that large insurer that covers much of a provider’s operating costs will use the alleged FARR certification as a basis for jamming up their cash flow and squeezing operations?

If history teaches anything, it’s to learn from it.  The addiction treatment industry can’t afford to sit idly by and watch.  Uniform application of the law is essential to avoid unfair, unreasonable and unintended results.  Contact us to find out how to join and make your voice heard.

Are Sober Livings and Sober Homes West Palm Beach Required to be FARR Certified or Not?

No, sober livings, halfway houses and sober homes in West Palm Beach are not required to have FARR certification. A provider for day or night treatment with community housing is not required to have FARR voluntary certification.

In a declaratory statement filed 8/21/18, a provider for day or night treatment with community housing is not required to comply with the voluntary certification requirements outlined in sections 397.487 and 397.4871, F.S. in order to operate the community housing portion of its license. The standards for this licensing component are found in Rule 65D-30-0081, F.A.C. Done and Ordered at Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, this 21st day of August 2018.

Attorneys from the Florida Healthcare Law Firm are passionate and highly respected in the behavioral healthcare field. They held a live call, on June 26, 2018, to present an urgently needed update regarding FARR certification. They provided unbias and responsible information concerning the critical confusion. drug rehab call centers in trouble with Congress

Drug Rehab Call Centers Get Congress Investigation Letters

Drug rehab call centers are in the sights of Congress. Eight of the nation’s drug and alcohol addiction treatment center call centers were sent investigation letters from Congress concerning patient brokering. This will change drug rehab lead generation options for addiction treatment centers. You can read a list of those drug rehab call centers that received the letters and what information Congress is requesting below. A buy rehab leads strategy is unpopular with many professionals in the drug and alcohol addiction industry. Even with its’ unpopularity, these businesses have thrived over the years. Most likely due to many drug and alcohol addiction treatment center owners relying on short-term solutions to their long-term problem of maintaining a census.

Drug Rehab Call Centers Being Checked Out by Congress on Drug Rehab Lead Generation

Congress is watching drug rehab call centersBig brother is watching the drug and alcohol addiction treatment industry on many different levels affecting treatment calls. The strict patient brokering laws that were passed on July 1, 2017, for sober homes and addiction treatment centers in West Palm Beach, Florida have paved the road for the nation. The new “Florida Model” is one of the most positive things that has come out of Florida for the addiction treatment industry. California is now in the process with legislation to fight patient brokering, many more states will follow.

Unfortunately, the media in its’ frenzy to gain readers and viewers for advertising dollars have beat up Florida causing some ethical operators to close their doors. They were dubbed with the “Florida Shuffle” which should be the “national body shuffle.” The irresponsible news media coverage has caused many to seek treatment in other areas of the country. This hurt the ethical players and more importantly caused some to get treatment in other areas that are worse than Florida. Forbes magazine reported we are in a 35 billion dollar a year industry, and NBC News reported that Florida only accounts for 1 billion. Florida is certainly not the worst state concerning patient brokering. The media in its’ slanted coverage, unknowingly may have caused life-threatening situations to many. It will be interesting to see if the media does a story covering drug rehab call centers across the nation.

Addiction Treatment Centers Competing in a Red Ocean

Addiction Treatment Center Marketing Content StrategyMany addiction treatment centers think they cannot compete with the big players in the sandbox due to their lack of education on proven drug rehab marketing strategies. They see the bigger players spending over six figures a month on addiction treatment marketing and resort to a quick fix . The quick fixes for their drug rehab lead generation include a buy rehab leads strategy from drug rehab call centers, soon to come again Google AdWords and the one trick pony cookie cutter solutions offered by the large drug rehab marketing agencies that rely on the churn of the 14,000 treatment centers across the US.  Florida was hit with a double whammy with the new laws passed on July 1, 2017, and then again with Google restricting drug and alcohol addiction treatment pay per click ads. Unfortunately, with the new investigation of Congress on call centers, some will go back to AdWords if they qualify through Google.

Drug Rehab Call Centers Leads Strategy

Drug rehab call centers marketing strategyIf the small to medium treatment centers did not waste their time and money on the short-term solutions but instead invested in a long-term organic strategy they would be much better off. It’s an interesting situation if you consider that many of the leads generated from call centers are not a good fit for the treatment centers. In addition, some shady drug rehab call centers sell the same rehabilitation lead to many centers. Once the center starts to complain they are not receiving treatment leads, the drug rehab call centers concentrate on sending a few well-qualified leads. And now in Florida, it is illegal to sell the well-qualified calls which are verification of benefits (VOB Calls.) If you are an addiction treatment center in Florida and are buying VOB calls, or if you are buying calls from a call center based in Florida you are at great risk including legal problems, felony charges, high fines and jail time.

Google AdWords and PPC for Drug Rehab Marketing Strategy

Drug Rehab Marketing Google AdWords not a good alternative from drug rehab call centersIt’s unfortunate that the small to medium size treatment centers revert to using AdWords and a buy rehab leads strategy. Consider this, pay per click accounts for 1.91% of the addiction treatment calls from page one of Google. Many of these calls are not a good fit for the drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment centers. The first three organic listings on page one of Google account for almost 70% of the page one clicks. In addition, they need to be ranking in the Google 3-pack on page one. It takes time and knowledge to rank on page one of Google. Many of the large one trick pony marketing agencies who have a hard time retaining the best marketing talent gloss over these critical elements. That is why it is extremely important to have drug rehab marketing consultants driving your addiction treatment marketing machine. This also applies to the addiction treatment ancillary services providers lead generation strategies. Many of the nation’s best marketing consultants have left the large drug rehab marketing agencies because they know their worth. They have left the one trick pony cookie cutter agencies because these marketing agencies simply cannot afford to pay them well enough because they rely on the glitz and glamour. They are spending big bucks on their Executive salaries, conferences, airfares, high-end restaurants and extravagant entertaining.

What Congress is Seeking from Drug Rehab Call Centers

Congress is seeking detailed and document answers to 10 questions regarding how these drug rehab call centers have been operating. Here are the areas that are looking to get information on;

  • operations, copies of policies and procedures,
  • how they obtain new treatment center, detox or sober living clients
  • how they refer out
  • process calls, questions asked, information provided, disclosure, and if staff have any certifications
  • how payment is determined
  • all signed contracts from treatment centers, detox’s and sober livings
  • are they helping get health insurance to cover drug and alcohol addiction treatment
  • all companies they are affiliated with including detox’s, sober livings, drug testing labs, billing companies and other drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers
  • disclosures on their websites
  • a complete disclosure of pay per click, AdWords, and paid advertising
  • documented number of drug rehab treatment calls every month since 2013
  • list of any organizations, all their emails and any communications they have dealt with that had license revoked or been shut down and why this happened
  • A list of employees that have any criminal charges or any lawsuits to the call centers in relationship to patient brokering

They also need to make arrangements by June 12, 2018, to provide a briefing to the committee staff. Below are the 8 call centers that have been contacted by Congress. You can click on them and read the letters that were sent.

Drug Rehab Call Centers Regulation is Coming from Congress

For drug rehab call centers and unethical operators in the addiction treatment rehabilitation marketing, the writing is on the wall. Big brother is examining every business and addiction recovery marketing aspect of our industry. Not only drug rehab call centers but also substance abuse drug testing labs, insurance, substance abuse billing, addiction treatment centers, opiate detox and sober livings. They are gathering the needed information to take down patient brokering and help save lives.

We’d like to hear your thoughts on call centers being investigated, leave a remark below.

Drug Rehab Marketing Agency Cookie Cutter Options

Drug Rehab Marketing Agencies

drug rehab marketing agency lavish life styleWhen seeking a drug rehab marketing agency it is easy to get fooled by the glitz and glamour of the large drug rehab advertising and marketing providers. They are spending 10,000’s of dollars to sponsor the large conferences, flying across the US, staying in lavish hotels and entertaining at the best restaurants. Their executives are eating up large chunks of revenue in their salaries. They are relying upon churning uneducated clients every year with their cookie cutter offering that delivers poor addiction treatment lead generation. They know that they are going to be churning through clients. After 3-6 months the addiction treatment centers realize the agencies addiction recovery marketing is not producing treatment calls. They also realize their organic rankings have not achieved page one of Google.

Why Drug Rehab Marketing Agencies Cannot Retain Top Marketing Talent

The most talented at some point realize their value and that they are underpaid. Once this happens they venture off on their own. The larger marketing agencies revenue is being absorbed by the Executives, their business escapes to cities across the US and their lavish entertaining lifestyle. Key Components to Look at with a Large Drug Rehab Marketing Agency

drug rehab marketing agency should help reevaluate ancillary services providersDrug rehab marketing is complex, time-consuming and constantly evolving. With the churn of the best talent from the larger drug rehab marketing agencies, they are left with a few cookie cutters trained, not well-talented staff. The larger agencies portray their agency as experts in drug and alcohol addiction treatment marketing. Their Executives talk a smooth game and they truly know how to market substance abuse treatment. However, with the high operating expenses, their salaries and the difficulty of retaining the best talent they cannot provide the high-quality marketing that they claim.

This is one of the reasons why marketing has such a bad taste in the mouth with the addiction treatment center owners. They easily get fooled by the larger cookie cutter agencies. Behavioral Health Network Resources encourages all business owners to reevaluate all their current ancillary services providers (including their marketing agency) on a regular basis. This reevaluation often times saves large amounts of revenue and generates new revenue streams. You can check out some of the best addiction treatment ancillary services providers on our rehab vendors page. Give them a call and see if they can save you revenue on some of the services that you are using.

Education is the key for addiction treatment center owners with their marketing. Producing treatment calls is no easy feat. Many recovery center owners will take the quickest route with a buy rehab leads strategy. The allows the large agencies not to do the essential organic work of building citations, back-links, and drug rehab SEO.  The short-term solution of a buy rehab leads strategy actually costs much more money in the long run.

There are many aspects to marketing and knowing some key elements can save hundreds of thousands of dollars in wasted drug rehab marketing. The large cookie cutter agencies over-whelm and distract clients with rigged analytics ultimately causing a leaky marketing strategy. The key elements to watch in rehabilitation marketing are the number of calls for qualified addiction leads and how many keywords am I ranking for on page one of Google. Also included are page one of Google’s local 3-pack. This is the maps section at the top of the page. There are only three slots available. This is a valuable piece of Google real estate that produces well-qualified leads for treatment centers. If you not on page one of Google you need to switch marketing companies.

Drug Rehab Marketing Agencies Trick Drug Rehab Centers with Pretty Websites

Drug rehab website structure and its importance in drug rehab marketingWhen a drug rehab marketing agency is building your most important marketing asset you need to make sure there are no holes that are sucking out your valuable addiction marketing dollars. A website is like an iceberg, there is only 10% showing. While the 10% is important, the other 90% is more important. The larger agencies are producing cookie cutter websites that aesthetically look amazing. The agencies shock and awe the owners with the look of the website they have built for them.

Common Drug Rehab Marketing Mistakes

The ultimate goals for a website are to get on page one of Google (organically and in the Google 3-pack) and generate drug rehab leads. Google doesn’t have a playbook on exactly how to achieve this difficult task. However, there are some things that we know must be done in order not to leak valuable Google juice. Daily we see common mistakes made by a drug rehab marketing agency on websites they have built. Some of the common drug rehab SEO website development mistakes include;

  • Improper hierarchy
  • No Schema (50% of searches by 2020 being voice)
  • Google maps placed and coded incorrectly
  • Little, poor or no SEO
  • Poor site navigation
  • No HTTPS registration
  • Google My Business incomplete or not updated weekly
  • Too few citations
  • Poor or lack of social media presence
  • No testimonials
  • No staff Page
  • Poor or no blog

How to Check if an Agency is Producing Drug Rehab SEO

Google SEO not being provided by drug rehab marketing agenciesOnce you have a website structure in place the next important step is search engine optimization (SEO). We look at many drug rehab marketing agency built cookie cutter websites and instantly see the drug rehab SEO is often poorly done. Again, Google does not provide a roadmap to achieve SEO that will rank you on page one.

SEO, especially for the small to medium sized behavioral health organizations starts with geo-targeting their local area. This is one of the ways to compete against the big players spending hundreds of thousands of dollars every month on drug rehab lead generation. Your current marketing company should at least be doing the following.

  • Google three pack (if you’re not ranking in the 3 slots on the Google maps on page one, your marketing company has not performed this task well.)
  • 100’s of citations across the web. Google your company name and the listings will show your citations. You should dominate the pages listings about 10 pages deep. If you are not your current agency has done a poor job.
  • Install the Yoast plugin on your WordPress site. Once installed pull up the pages of your website and blogs. Scroll down a little and Yoast will tell you what needs to be done for a starting point on your SEO. You will see a lot of red lights if your marketing agency has done a poor job with on-page SEO.

It is in your best interest to personally jump into your WordPress, install Yoast and check to see if your current drug rehab marketing agency has done the absolutely necessary foundation work to achieve organic rankings. It is also in your best interest to Google search your company and see how many organic listings you have. You can also check Yext to see a list of about 50 citations and check to see how many are there and how many are correct. Yext only provides about 50, you need many more, but it is a good starting point. These are areas you should be checking for your drug rehab SEO.

A Drug Rehab Marketing Agency Can’t Perform Organic Social Media Marketing

social media marketing not being provided by a drug rehab marketing agencyDrug rehab social media marketing is an absolute must in your marketing mix. It generates the lowest cost per acquisition per lead of any other marketing strategy. This is not a buy rehab leads approach, it is organic and takes a targeted audience and pinpoint distribution. Done properly It increases your SEO, however, all of the above marketing strategies for addiction treatment must be in place to get SEO results. Any large drug rehab marketing agency will offer social media marketing, but are they demonstrating they can perform social media marketing with their own brand?

If your current marketing agency understands social media marketing, they should be using it for their business. You should see them (organically, not paid) on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and G+. You are their target market and if they are not demonstrating that they can reach you on social media, how can you expect them to produce drug rehab leads for you.

Yes, a drug and alcohol addiction treatment center, an opiate detox or sober livings target market is different than a marketing agency. However, it will at least demonstrate that they understand social media marketing. They will have to build up target market connections and followers to personal profiles and build targeted groups for you. This is advantages to you as a treatment center owner because these will be electronic assets that your company will own. You will be able to drip your message to your targeted audience any time you want and not have to pay to reach them.

Drug Rehab Marketing on Social Media

Social media marketing takes time and you must corral your target substance abuse treatment audience. You must capture them with personal connections and get them in targeted groups. This is especially true with Facebook’s new algorithm because they are not serving many posts from business profiles. The social media strategy made by many drug rehab marketing agencies was a buy rehab leads strategy. They would buy mass amounts of useless Facebook business page followers.

When buying Facebook followers you get many fake followers from foreign countries. Even if your marketing agency earned the followers (which takes a long time) on Facebook they now have little value. A large drug rehab marketing agency also relies upon paid social media marketing. Since it takes time to build a targeted social media audience the only option they have for drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers is paid advertising.

wasted drug rehab marketing dollars on a buy rehab leads strategyMost drug rehab marketing agencies have only one option for social media marketing. Since they do not have your target audience connected to them and do not have them in groups, they must pay Facebook to reach them. There are many problems with this tactic including paying to reach your target audience over and over again. Also, you have no electronic assets or corralled audience that you own when you sever your relationship with the marketing agency. It is a better business decision to get your staff trained on how to maximize social media and let them run your social media. This way you build and own the target audience.

Addiction Treatment Center Marketing, Wheres Your Audience

Addiction treatment center marketing has many fluff posts with little meat on how to market in our industry. Many miss the most important factor and that’s the necessity of having a large audience. There are many components needed in a drug rehab marketing mix, but without reaching a targeted audience you are wasting time and marketing budget.

Understanding Addiction Treatment Center Marketing Components

organic addiction treatment marketing info graphicDrug and alcohol addiction treatment centers expect instant results that they are used to getting from pay per click and call center lead generation. Their addiction center treatment marketing is dependent on the instant calls from these two short-term solutions that they have to pay for over and over again. Before the Google restrictions in our industry, there were about 75 big time players spending $500,000-$1,500,000 a month in that big boy sandbox. The google restrictions will be lifted for those who qualify and they will be competing for the 1.91% of the clicks that paid marketing (PPC) generates. Hopefully many have learned from this and are including a better option with their addiction treatment marketing plan. Organic rankings on page one of Google account for a whopping 70% of the click-throughs. Generating leads is a huge problem for many of the small to medium-sized treatment centers that only waste their marketing dollars on AdWords. They should include a localized SEO marketing strategy because they can compete with the big players with the marketing strategy.

Drug Rehab Call Tracking Metrics is an Absolute Must in a Marketing Plan

Call Tracking Metrics (a must to know where your calls are coming from, this is an inexpensive took), SEO, AdWords, PPC, “DRIP” Campaigns, mobile, call center lead generation, email mail marketing, organic rankings, gorilla marketing, Facebook. LinkedIn, professional events, branding, networking, knowing all the search engines, listings on high traffic addiction sites (make sure if your link is coming from a website that the site has a PR7 or higher rating otherwise it’s hurting you,) being a thought leader and many more.

Wasted addiction treatment center marketing strategies

Had they set-up their addiction treatment center marketing with a marketing mix (many different buckets) and tracked their calls they would not be dependent on one. A varied marketing mix is paramount in any business. Millennial’s have changed marketing forever and any business in our industry needs to grow their social media footprint for several reasons.

E-Harmony teaches drug rehab marketing strategies

E-Harmony is one of the most known and successful dating websites in the US. They have 66 million users and have produced 2 million marriages (the divorce rate of these marriages is 3.86%).

Drug and alcohol addiction treatment center marketing needs social media

One of the main reasons they are successful is that they have grown their social media audience and understand how to market to them.

In the addiction and behavioral health industry, many of the treatment centers and sales/service organizations either get an agency (that doesn’t have the addiction treatment center marketing audience) or attempt to do this in-house. When an agency is hired to perform social media marketing it takes a little while before the center realizes the agency is only good for paid marketing. They have not grown an audience that the addiction treatment center owns. Some advertising and marketing agencies will try to grow Facebook business likes to show they have done some work. This strategy is not effective due to Facebook’s new algorithm changes. Facebook’s new changes are heavily restricting posts from business pages. The power is now in personal profiles and groups.

Understanding How to Use Social Media for Drug Rehab Marketing

drug rehab marketing agency cookie cutter strategyOnce treatment centers realize the large cookie cutter drug rehab marketing agency they hired is not producing results, and they haven’t even grown any electronic assets, they try to do the social media themselves. This could produce results that have the lowest cost per acquisition in their marketing. However, this does not happen immediately it takes time to build your brand in 1000’s of social media groups and corral a targeted audience. For this to happen they need to know each of the key social mediums intimately. Some drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers think social media marketing is easy and attempt to do it in-house. They think that a couple of posts will produce activity and generate leads. They also do not place or look at any back-end metrics like Google Analytics and call tracking. These are essential because they clearly tell you how much traffic is generated, where the traffic is coming from and what is or isn’t performing.

Addiction treatment social media marketing requires a complete understanding of the different mediums. Each has its own strength and it’s own secrets, tricks, and back-doors to maximize reach and your time investment. Knowing where, how and when for each particular medium is the difference from reaching 50 to reaching 1000’s.

Addiction Treatment Center Marketing for Ancillary Sales and Service Organizations by Behavioral Health Network ResourcesThe key for sales and service organizations is to generate leads, establish new relationships and be a leader in their niche. This is a difficult challenge due to a lack of marketing knowledge and heavy competition in the various niches.  Sales and service organizations tend to rely upon industry events and word of mouth for their marketing. Some sales and service organizations additionally rely upon paid marketing on LinkedIn and Facebook. While these are good short-term solutions they should also include growing a targeted audience that they own and ranking on the first page of Google for key search terms.

They must concentrate on growing a targeted audience of CEO’s, Executives and Directors that are corralled in groups and personal connections on social media profiles. Once they are in the social media groups or as personal connections they can drip their marketing to them, establish trust and always be top of mind.

Drug Rehab Ancillary Business Marketing OpportunityWe have built a rehab vendors page listing addiction treatment and behavioral health sales and service organizations. The second thing they must concentrate on is getting to the first page of Google for key search terms. This will most likely involve a website rebuild due to lack of poor website structure. It will also require on-site search engine optimization, optimized blog posts, Google My business optimization and the building of citations.

So How Do Sales and Service Organizations Achieve These Goals with Web Marketing?

It should start with a website that has the proper structure (including schema) and search engine optimization for key search terms. It should also include a blog that is attracting and engaging to their target audience. This means the blog posts are no so much about them, but about engaging their target audience with emotion and satisfying their pain points. It must include a social media on the most valuable mediums in our industry. Two of these must include LinkedIn and Facebook.

How to Maximize and Incorporate LinkedIn in Your Marketing Strategy

This is a definite must for all addiction treatment sales and service organizations. There is no single place other than LinkedIn where you can reach your professional target market. However, to be successful you need to implement several key components;

  1. Build targeted level one connections including CEO’s, Executives and Directors.
  2. Understand how to produce pulse posts that are not about your organization, but the needs of your potential customers.
  3. Write pulse posts is story format that attracts and engages the target market touching an emotional level of the pain points your target market is experiencing
  4. Uniform brand on profiles of all employees.
  5. Share, share and re-share pulse posts from employee’s profiles.

How to Utilize Facebook for Sales and Service Organizations

Addiction Treatment Ancillary Services Rehab Marketing Ideas on FacebookFacebook is the single largest social media that exists on the planet. This is a must for all sales and service organizations. Two of the biggest obstacles are connecting with the decision makers for their product or service and understanding where the power of this medium benefits their organization the most in their addiction treatment ancillary services marketing strategy. Organizations must understand the algorithm changes and incorporate those changes. Facebook announced in early 2018 that they are reducing the posts to individual’s boards from business profiles. However, posts from individuals and groups are still being served regularly. This means the power of Facebook’s two billion members lies in personal profiles and groups.

As a sales and service organization in the addiction treatment industry there are paramount strategies that you should put into place for your addiction treatment ancillary services marketing;

  1. Employees including CEO’s and Directors need to build targeted friends on Facebook. These friends should include decision makers like CEO’s, Executives and Directors from treatment centers and sober livings.
  2. Distribution of content from personal profiles that are attracting and engaging to the target audience. This content is not about their organization, but about how to solve the pain points of their target audience.
  3. Start and grow targeted groups. The group name and focus should not be the organization’s name, but about how to get their target audience to join the group. Once they are in the group they can sprinkle their branding and content into the group. However, they must be careful not to spam their own group.
  4. Install the Facebook Pixel on every page of their website.
  5. Format the pixel to capture their visitors for re-targeting purposes.

Drug Rehab SEO Website Development Hurts Marketing

Top 3 Reasons Drug Rehab SEO Website Development Hurts Drug Rehab Marketing

Drug rehab SEO Website development and design are drastically affecting drug rehab marketing for addiction treatment centers, opiate detox centers, inpatient rehab and IOP treatment programs. Understanding the many components needed including; design, drug rehab SEO, and branding are critical for successful web marketing. These are all paramount to generate drug rehab leads and customers for sales/service organization in our industry. However, it requires an ongoing, in-depth knowledge of the crucial role website structure plays in SEO and drug and alcohol addiction treatment center web marketing.

Addiction treatment centers are facing their most difficult challenges ever in 2018. Generating enough clients to sustain their business has become a daunting necessity. The insurance companies are now paying for shorter lengths of stay and less reimbursement for drug testing. This combined with new laws in Florida on patient brokering, Google PPC restrictions and algorithm changes, have many centers frustrated and struggling to gain clients. We are seeing many centers close their doors, merge, or get bought out by wall street investors.

Drug Rehab Owners Understanding How Drug Rehab SEO Website Development Effects Their Treatment Calls Lead Generation

As a treatment center owner, you most likely started your center because you have a passion to help and extensive knowledge on addiction. That most likely shows with the clinical aspect of your center. However, many centers fall because they do not respect, or understand marketing.

drug rehab SEO website development work smarter not harderThe current behavioral health industry landscape requires that recovery centers learn better addiction treatment marketing practices including the status of the drug rehab SEO website development. Website development is the major building block for their drug rehab marketing. Relying solely on outreach, and buying rehab leads to maintain an acceptable census puts them at great risk.  Addiction treatment lead generation and producing treatment calls is difficult on the web. Drug rehabilitation owners often use short-term solutions to their long-term problem.

Web Marketing Outperforms All Other Marketing Combined

When the money was flowing, there was no reason to have a healthy marketing mix. Addiction treatment centers and opiate detox centers threw a ton of money at their rehab marketing with PPC, bought some VOB treatment calls (no longer legal in Florida,) relied on Outreach and that was the extent of their marketing plan. They demanded immediate results which have caused industry-wide thought process concerning marketing. Concentrating on short-term solutions, to their long-term problem of generating clients, puts them at great risk of not surviving in the red ocean.

Website structure the #1 Ingredient for Drug Rehab SEO

Drug Rehab SEO website development needs proper website structure. Many drug rehabilitation centers think web marketing does not work. The main reason is when they implemented it into their substance abuse marketing their website lacked proper structure. They were investing money in drug rehab SEO that could not perform. Without proper structure, Google spiders will not rank or penalize the website.

Substance abuse web marketing is complicated, competitive, and requires knowledge beyond addiction treatment. Drug rehab SEO needs to have the proper foundation to produce treatment calls. It must be the start of your drug rehab marketing and lead generation. Web marketing outperforms all other marketing combined when set-up correctly and executed properly. Speaking with many treatment center CEO’s and Executives, many say web marketing does not work. Our immediate response is let’s look at your electronic assets and how they are set-up.

1. Proper Website Structure = Poor Web Marketing Results

the importance of drug rehab SEO website developmentLet’s first look at the website. Website structure is the critical starting point for SEO performance. The aesthetics of treatment centers websites are often beautiful, showing pictures of the beach, and amenities. The aesthetics of a website are only a fraction of what is needed for web marketing. When a house is being built, the foundation is the most important aspect. Without a strong foundation, your house will fall. With web marketing, proper structure is the original building block.

We recently spoke with Brian Frye, CEO, of Magna Technologies, a highly respected industry website design company and attendee favorite panelist at BHNR’s Ethical Marketing Practices Conferences, about the status of treatment centers websites. Here is what he had to say,

“The biggest problem is poor website structure. Centers do not understand how damaging this is to their marketing.”

Website Structure 1st Step in Addiction Treatment Center Marketing SEO

Proper website structure is a critical aspect of a websites SEO and critical for drug rehab marketing. It will be one of the main factors in generating revenue or wasting marketing dollars. Poor drug rehab SEO website development causes Google (and other search engines) to do one of two things. They will either not read and rank your site or penalize your site for structural errors. If you have an efficient website structure in Googles eyes, you get rewarded in many ways (Google juice) with higher rankings. Poor structure is one of the main reasons why many treatment centers say web marketing does not work. SEO is also a huge factor for many addiction treatment centers.

Get a Website Designed and Developed by an Experienced Professional with In-depth Knowledge Beyond the Addiction Treatment Industry

maximizing drug rehab SEO website developmentThe “big boys in the sandbox” understand better drug rehab SEO website development equals higher rankings in search engines and more click-throughs. These big players use professional and experienced webmasters with experience beyond the addiction treatment industry. Their sites use an efficient, clean and trimmed hierarchy. The small to medium players usually use unskilled individuals with limited knowledge of proper structure. Their hierarchy is generally disorganized, jumbled and not optimized for Google. This is an area that the small to medium size treatment centers can gain ground against the competition (big and small) on the web if they include it in their drug rehab marketing plan.

2. Pay Attention to These Areas of Website Structure

While this article cannot cover all that is involved with proper website development and structure, here are some areas that must be addressed.

Schema.org (Schema) Advanced Search Tactic

Schema is a syntactic vocabulary that is added to HTML that improves how spiders read and present a web page in SERP’s. This is an absolute must in your drug rehab SEO website development.

Google can read every language, however, it’s native tongue is the schema. It allows search engines to more clearly understand and read sites more quickly. It is becoming paramount for all websites to correctly incorporate schema where ever possible on their website for several reasons. It gives the ability for search engines to pull better rich snippets and rich data that makes a website link stand out and gain real estate in SERP’s, increasing clicks.

Voice Search Get Ahead of other Rehabilitation Centers

Secondly, it is becoming a necessity in the new age of voice search. As we pointed out in an earlier article, treatment centers and ancillary service organizations in the addiction treatment industry are suffering from digital Darwinism. Organizations in the addiction treatment industry do not have a firm understanding of the many aspects of SEO and now comes along voice search.

Digital voice search is one of the newest technological advances in the ways consumers get information. It is rapidly becoming a crucial part of the way our potential clients will get information they are seeking at home (Google Home, Microsoft’s Cortana, and Amazons Alexa,) and on mobile devices (Android, and Apple.) ComScore.com predicts that by 2020, 50 percent of all searches will be voice searches.

Implementing Schema on a website is like placing a direction post on a highway. It quickly gets the spiders to the information that correctly answers a voice query. This is important because voice queries depend on implied content. Proper schema helps provide the content rather than the spiders using an ambiguous page of text.

Implementing Schema and Asking the Right Questions

One of the biggest issues with schema is many do not know how to properly place it on a website.  According to schema.org, there are only 10 million websites using schema.org markup. While this may seem like a lot, only 1% of websites have implemented it. This can give a treatment center an edge over their competition and should be included in their drug rehab marketing strategy. Some of the areas where you should incorporate schema are;

  • Site Navigation Element
  • About Page
  • GMB Map (Google Maps)
  • WP Footer
  • WP Header
  • WP Side Bar

3. Proper Website Structure gets more Google real-estate with Site-links

Website development increases SERPSitelinks are links and descriptions of the different parts of your website that show up in SERP’s. This is a Google’s SEO golden nugget that improves click-through rates, however, there are several pieces that need to be in place to achieve this golden award.  They also are huge in SEO by making navigation easier, dominating SERP’s, brand reputations, and building trust with Google and the user. One of those important pieces is a good website structure (trust and brand reputation are also factors.) If you have a poor website structure, it is highly unlikely that you will achieve a sitemap in Google listings. This causes a reduction in targeted traffic and lower click-throughs of your target audience.

Here is an example of a search that achieves a site link. Try typing into Google search your center and see if your organization shows a site link. If it does not, you either have no site-link, or it is incorrectly implemented.

A quote from Google Webmaster clearly showing the importance of proper website development; We only show site links for results when we think they’ll be useful to the user. If the structure of your site doesn’t allow our algorithms to find good site links, or we don’t think that the site links for your site are relevant for the user’s query, we won’t show them.

While Google doesn’t provide a step by step drug rehab SEO website development procedure there are certain things that should be in place to achieve site links.

  • Unique website name
  • Clear website structure and navigation
  • #1 rank organically for the search term
  • Implementation of sitemap.xml to your Google search counsel account
  • Build internal links
  • Cross check page titles
  • Brand Awareness on social media
  • Better Website Development and Structure Means Better Website Crawling

Google spiders search billions of pages on the web and compile a massive index. Their algorithm has over 200 factors. According to Google, it is a must that they can crawl and index your site correctly. If you have poor drug rehab SEO website development, chances are extremely slim in achieving a coveted site-link in Google search.
